    Bernard T. Haywood, state police commander, dies

    Bernard T. Haywood,a retired Maryland State Police commander who championed programs to combat drunken driving, died Monday of heart failure at the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air. The son of Ernest Charles Haywood, a Baltimore police officer, and Frieda Foster Haywood, a homemaker, Bernard Thomas Haywood was born in Baltimore and lived on Gorsuch Avenue.

    Mary Kathleen Dunne McLean, 92, of Bel Air, Md., died at 2:25 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at home. Born Oct. 25, 1924, in Burlington, she was the daughter of John Joseph Dunne and Marie Marguerite Champagne Dunne.
