    Running back Jim Taylor, one of the stars of legendary coach Vince Lombardi's Packers in the 1960s, died Saturday. He was 83. To generations of football fans, Jim Taylor was that Packers running back thundering downfield on power sweeps, all captured by NFL Films in the 1960s.

    Former Green Bay fullback Jim Taylor, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, died Saturday morning, the team announced. Known for his bruising running style, he played in Green Bay from 1958-66 and exceeded 1,000 rushing yards each season from 1960-64.

    Jim Taylor, a Hall of Fame running back best remembered for his role on Vince Lombardi's Green Bay Packers, has died at the age of 83. Taylor was known as a fierce competitor who would run over, around or through an opponent, and he won a league MVP award and played on the 1966 Packers team that won the first Super Bowl. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1935, Taylor played his college football at LSU.

    A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of LSU basketball player Wayde Sims, Baton Rouge police said Saturda Sims, 20, was gunned down early Friday morning near a Subway restaurant in the 600 block of Harding Boulevard, about a block from Southern University's A.W. Mumford Stadium by 20-year-old Dyteon Simpson, of 4310 Burgess Dr. in Baker. Police records indicate Sims had "stepped in to defend his friend" after Simpson punched Sims' friend during a fistfight.

    Man dies after incident at Baker pipe manufacturer T...

    Federal workplace safety investigators and pipe manufacturer Stupp Corporation are investigating the death of a 29-year-old man killed in an industrial accident Thursday in Baker, officials said. The Stupp Corporation officials promised in a statement Thursday that their internal investigation into the death of Stephen Deggs will be thorough and they will cooperate with local authorities and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
