    Freddie P. "Cowboy" McClane

    He was the beloved husband of Maria G. "Mary" Corsaro McClane; loving son of Paul McClane and Addi Vandora Smith; devoted stepson of Carson Smith; loving father of Julia Ann Smith; dear stepfather of Michael David Witczak, Joseph Christopher Witczak and Stephanie Ann Witczak. Freddie was also the devoted brother of Mary Biller, Martha Turner, Johnny David Smith and the late Jimmy Carson Smith and Deborah Jean Fitzpatrick.

    Gary Huddles, former Baltimore County Council member

    Gary Huddles, who served four terms in the Baltimore County Council and was once viewed as candidate for statewide political office, died Wednesday of Alzheimer's disease at Arden Court in Pikesville. He was 78. "Most of his friends thought he would be Baltimore's County's first Jewish county executive," said a son, Kirk Huddles.

    Ann Lambdin Beetz, a retried speech pathologist, died Jan. 6 of Huntington's disease at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Pierce James Lambdin, a city auditor, and his wife Elizabeth Alma Campen.

    S. Donald "Don" Marani, a retired Baltimore County Public Schools reading supervisor, died of congestive heart failure on Dec. 23 at Stella Maris Hospice. The Parkville resident was 86. Born Salvatore Donald Marani in Baltimore and known as Don, he was the son of Samuel Salvatore Marani and his wife, Katherine.

    Marie B. Garvey, a retired WBAL radio staff assistant, died of stroke complications Saturday at her home in Oak Park, Ill. The former Timonium resident was 99. Born in Baltimore and raised near Joppa and Belair roads, she was the daughter of Frank Bialek, who owned and operated a grocery store, and his wife, Marie, who worked alongside him.

    Thomas Peirce Perkins III, former partner at the Venable law firm and a past Enoch Pratt Free Library, Baltimore Aquarium, Baltimore Education Scholarship Trust board member, died Dec. 31 of congestive heart failure at the Goodman Brown Hospice in New York. The former Guilford resident was 82. The son of Thomas Peirce Perkins II and Virginia Miller Perkins, Mr. Perkins was born in Baltimore and raised on Chancery Road in Guilford.

    Viewing To Be Held For Slain Morgan State Student

    A viewing for a Morgan State student who was described as a promising sophomore is scheduled to be held on Friday afternoon. 19-year-old Jonathan Tobash was killed on December 18 when he was walking to a corner store in the 3500 block of Pelham Avenue in Northeast Baltimore.

    A visitation for James "Jim" Robert Forrester, 43, a Fells Point musician and body piercing artist who died Monday, will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at Lilly & Zeiler Funeral Home, 1901 Eastern Ave. Interment will be private. Mr. Forrester, a body piercer at the Baltimore Tattoo Museum, was shot outside the shop Monday evening while outside making a phone call, according to Baltimore police.

    Baltimore FFs Reeling from High Number of Fire Deaths

    Dec. 20--The Baltimore Fire Department is reeling as the city has experienced the most fire deaths in a decade, Chief Niles R. Ford said Wednesday. Twenty-eight people have died in fires with more than a week left to go in the year -- more than half of them in just four incidents, according to the Fire Department.
