    Man convicted of Austintown strangulation death dead...

    A man who went on trial five times and spent 15 years in jail before pleading guilty in connection with the strangulation death of an Austintown woman, has died. Anderson, who was 50, spent nearly fifteen years in the Mahoning County Jail after being charged with the 2002 murder of Amber Zurcher, who police say was strangled with a phone cord in her Austintown apartment.

    Fatal car crash victim identified

    A woman who died Tuesday after her car went off the road and hit an Evans Avenue home has been identified. Theresa Abraham, 85, of Austintown, died from multiple blunt force injuries during the crash, according to the Mahoning County Coroner's Office.

    On Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, Irene Hazel Boyd, 91, passed away peacefully at 7:05 a.m. in her sleep at the home of her son in Clinton, Ohio, from a condition called Amyloidosis that had affected her heart but was only diagnosed in April of this year. She was born in Irondale, on Jan. 10, 1927, to Edwin F. and Hazel I. Downard.

Survivors include his daughter, Janet Rae Urquhart of Austintown; his son, Murdo Duncan Urquhart of Lisbon; his fiancee, Mary A. Little of Lisbon; one sister, Susan Jenson of Craig, Colo.; three brothers, Don A. Urquhart of Daniel, Wyo., Myron L. Urquhart and Derek D. Urquhart, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; and four grandchildren.
