    Daughter of legendary soul singer James Brown dies

According to a news release from the James Brown Family Foundation, Venisha Brown died Wednesday at AU Health Medical Center in Augusta, Ga., due to complications from pneumonia.

    Sarah Jane Strickland Thibodeaux, 73, of Nahunta, passed away Saturday afternoon, Aug. 18, 2018, at Bayview Nursing Home after an extended illness. Born in Nahunta, her parents were Harrell Addison and Renna Purdom Strickland.

    She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Travis; and three sisters, Mary Ammon, Anna Mae Fenton and Marion Iwater. Survivors include, her husband, Leroy Starkey of East Liverpool; two sons, Paul Starkey of Calcutta; and Donald Starkey, of West Leechburg, Pa; two daughters, Peggy Lee Gough of East Liverpool and Debbie Miller of East Liverpool; one brother, Ron Ammon of Augusta, Ga.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

    Evelyn June Starkey, 86

    She was born in East Liverpool on June 26, 1932, the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Fenton. Mrs Starkey had lived here her entire life, was employed in the Laundry Department at East Liverpool City Hospital and a graduate of East Liverpool High School.
