    Man struck and killed by train in Manasquan

    NJ transit police are investigating the death Monday night of a man who was struck and killed by a train near the Manasquan station. According to NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith, the victim was a "male trespasser" who was hit by the 7:16 p.m. train from Bay Head at approximately 7:26 p.m. NJ Transit and Manasquan police responded to the scene as did the Monmouth County Medical Examiner's office, Mr. Smith said.

    Neptune Township Police say they received reports of two shooting victims around 4:30 p.m. Friday. The Asbury Park Press reports victims have been identified as 37-year-old Sheazel Collins and 37-year-old Frantz Paraison.

    A 42-year-old Hudson Valley resident died on Thursday from injuries sustained in an accident while visiting the New Jersey shore. Erin Higgins, a resident of Harriman in Orange County since 2015 who was raised in Wappingers Falls, died at a hospital in Asbury Park after being pulled from the ocean.

    ASBURY PARK -- A 42-year-old woman pulled from the ocean off Asbury Park on Wednesday afternoon died at an area hospital Thursday, authorities said. Erin B. Higgins, of Harriman, N.Y. and a 54-year-old Wallkill, N.Y. man were swimming in chest deep water off the 1700 block of Ocean Avenue around 3 p.m. when they apparently got caught in a rip current, Asbury Park police said.
