Ontario Hockey League 20 in 20: Plymouth Whalers

Mike Vellucci, a staple behind the Plymouth Whalers' bench and in the team's front office since 2001, was hired by the Carolina Hurricanes in April to serve as the club's Assistant General Manager and Director of Hockey Operations. The Michigan native leaves behind some pretty big shoes to fill amassing 468 career-wins which rank tenth on the all-time OHL list, along with a pair of Coach of the Year awards in 2007 and 2013, an OHL Executive of the Year honour in 2013, and of course an OHL championship title in 2007.

Komisarek, who played 32 games for the Carolina Hurricans last season , is a 6-4, 235-pound defenseman from Wes Islip, N.Y. He is 32. The Montreal Canadiens' first pick in 2001, Komisarek has played for the Habs, Toronto Maple Leafs and Hurricanes.

Gemel Smith and Radek Faksa each recorded a goal and an assist, while Jason Dickinson and undrafted camp invitee Collin Shirley also scored.

Carolina Hurricanes 2014-15 TV Schedule Shows Continued Exposure Growth

For the third consecutive season, all 82 games in the Carolina Hurricanes ' 2014-15 season will be televised either locally or nationally. The new TV schedule released today by the Hurricanes covers the remaining 79 games not already claimed by NBC Sports Network, with 67 on mother station Fox Sports .
