Hesperia man gets 50 years to life in fatal shooting Updated at

A 31-year-old Hesperia man was sentenced to 50 years to life plus seven years in prison after he was convicted of the murder of a Mentone man, court records show. Alex Vincent Quezada was found guilty by a jury in July of murder and being a felon or addict in possession of a firearm in connection with the March shooting death of 34-year-old Ronnie Mena.

Man accused of killing KY mother, son facing charges

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon said around 10 a.m. on Friday friends of Kimberly Thomas Jackson went to check on her at her home in Mayfield after she did not show up to work. Kentucky State Police say Terry Froman is the suspect in Graves County homicide and abduction and is in custody.

Matthew Apperson of Winter Springs, Florida called 911 Tuesday morning to report that he had been menaced on the road by Zimmerman, who had approached the side of his vehicle in a pickup truck to ask why he had pointed at him. Apperson, who had recognized Zimmerman, told police it was at that point his harasser asked, "Do you know who I am?" then reportedly threatened to kill him.

Kershaw County woman charged with murder in domestic shooting

South Carolina authorities say a woman faces a murder charge in the shooting death of a 33-year-old man. The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office says they're holding 61-year-old Gregg Pickrell of Rembert after she was charged and arrested on a murder warrant late Friday.

Ryan Eddy Watenpaugh denies cooking the dog but admits leaving its paws on the woman's porch in a small bag.

An Ohio man pleaded guilty Friday to assault with a dangerous weapon in a Veterans Affairs hospital shooting that wounded an employee. Former Veterans Affairs employee Neil Moore pleaded guilty as part of a deal in which federal prosecutors agreed to drop a second charge.

Pa. State Police: 1 trooper dead in barracks shooting

A late-night shooting at a state police barracks in northeastern Pennsylvania left one trooper dead and another injured, and authorities were searching Saturday for a suspect, state police said. The shooting occurred at about 11 p.m. Friday at the barracks in Blooming Grove, Pike County, a township of about 4,000 people about 35 miles east of Scranton.

A man accused of killing his former boyfriend and business partner at a suburban Minneapolis gas station abandoned a suitcase that contained ammunition consistent with the bullets used in the slaying, according to a criminal complaint unsealed Friday. Convicted killer in Ohio school shootings escapes

An intensive manhunt was underway in western Ohio early Friday for the teen convicted of killing three students at a suburban Cleveland high school after his escape from prison. Nineteen-year-old T.J. Lane escaped around 7:40 p.m. with two other inmates from Allen Oakwood Correctional Institution in Lima, about 80 miles south of Toledo.

Woman released in 1976 Reno murder case

A 64-year-old woman who spent more than 30 years in prison for a Nevada killing she says she didn't commit was released on Thursday, three days after a judge granted her another trial in light of new DNA evidence. Cathy Woods downed a cheeseburger at Archie's, a 24-hour diner near the University of Nevada, Reno, in her first meal since she was freed.
