1 Killed, 1 Wounded In Baltimore County Shooting

A double-shooting in Baltimore County has left one man dead and injured a second, and two suspects were arrested after fleeing the crime scene. Baltimore County police say an officer heard gunshots Monday evening in Catonsville.

Death penalty sought in shooting death of Gary cop

A northwest Indiana prosecutor has notified the court he plans to seek the death penalty for a man charged with murder in the shooting death of a Gary police officer. The Times of Munster and the Post-Tribune of Merrillville report an amended information was filed Tuesday against 26-year-old Carl Blountof Gary, adding a death sentence request in the death of 47-year-old Patrolman Jeffrey Westerfield.

Theater shooting victim's parents sue ammo seller

The parents of a woman killed in the Colorado theater shootings filed a lawsuit Tuesday accusing four online retailers of improperly selling ammunition, tear gas, a high-capacity magazine and body armor used in the attack. The lawsuit alleges it was illegal and negligent to sell the gear to James Holmes, who is accused of killing 12 people and injuring 70 in the July 20, 2012, attack.

Police: Indiana man mutilated girlfriend's body

A southeastern Indiana man admitted to police officers that he fatally stabbed his girlfriend and then mutilated her body, including cooking and eating some of her organs, according to police documents released Monday. Joseph Oberhansley, 33, of Jeffersonville appeared in court Monday, where he was formally charged with murder in the death of Tammy Blanton, 46. He also was charged with abuse of a corpse and breaking and entering.

Grand jury gets more time in Ferguson case

A grand jury in Missouri now has more time decide whether Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson should be charged for the shooting death of teenager Michael Brown. St. Louis County Judge Carolyn Whittington has extended the grand jury's deadline until Jan. 7, said Paul Fox, the county's director of judicial administration.

Ex-roommate accused in man's 2009 murder

New Hanover County authorities say the former roommate of a man whose body was found on a local road in 2009 has been indicted in connection with his death. Local media outlets report 52-year-old Larry Karl Gonzales has been indicted for first-degree murder in the death of Alton Corey Vann.

A 31-year-old Hesperia man was sentenced to 50 years to life plus seven years in prison after he was convicted of the murder of a Mentone man, court records show. Alex Vincent Quezada was found guilty by a jury in July of murder and being a felon or addict in possession of a firearm in connection with the March shooting death of 34-year-old Ronnie Mena.

Man accused of killing KY mother, son facing charges

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon said around 10 a.m. on Friday friends of Kimberly Thomas Jackson went to check on her at her home in Mayfield after she did not show up to work. Kentucky State Police say Terry Froman is the suspect in Graves County homicide and abduction and is in custody.
