A haunting tale that begins with a mysterious disappearance
A terrified mother pulls her daughter out of her apartment and runs out into the darkness. It’s 3 a.m. and the clocks in the house are spinning forward, the lights are flashing and an Ernie doll is yelling, “I feel great.”
This was no electrical anomaly. It was a haunting.

Donna Lacroix debunks the Ghost Hunters
We’ve all seen her, we’ve all loved her, and we’ve all missed her on the Ghost Hunters. Now Donna Lacroix, the original case manager from Ghost Hunters and investigator with Ghost Hunters International, is back and it’s not good.
Making a call-in appearance on the radio show “Ghost Divas,” Donna Lacroix let it all fly with one of the most difficult to listen to diatribes that I’ve ever had the displeasure of sitting through. Within a span of 30 minutes, Donna pulled out all the stops and in between ridiculous rants from the Ghost Divas she served up the following tidbits...

'Ghost Hunters' Seeks Spirits and Ratings
Mr. Hawes and Mr. Wilson are the shadow-chasing sleuths on “Ghost Hunters,” the Syfy reality series that has made believers out of its producers — believers in paranormal programming, if not in the spirits themselves. Despite a legion of detractors, “Ghost Hunters” is Syfy’s most popular show many weeks, beating scripted series on the channel like “Eureka” and “Stargate Universe.” Now in its fifth season, it regularly draws almost three million viewers, more than half in the advertiser-friendly 18-to-49-year-old demographic, according to Nielsen.
“Ghost Hunters” attracts more women than men —

The Ohio and Erie Canal in 1902. Photo is public domain. Ohio's canals are rich with history.
There is a popular saying about the canal. “For every mile of the canal, an Irishman is buried.” Many builders of the waterway were Irish immigrants. Disease was easily spread in the tough working conditions in the canal, and many workers perished during the canal’s construction. The workers are said to be buried around the canal in unmarked graves.
The most famous canal haunting is Lock 4, located in Canal Fulton. A man is rumored to have killed workers by pouring acid on them before taking his own life. His vengeful spirit may roam the area around the canal. Paranormal activity at Lock 4 includes reports of cold spots and feeling watched. There is also a warehouse located along the bank of the canal that has its share of hauntings.

The owners and employees rarely ventured down to the basement as they went about their business in the 100-year-old building that had become the Candle Shoppe of the Poconos.
The chupacabra ("goat sucker") is an animal said to be unknown to science and systemically killing animals in places like Puerto Rico, Miami, Nicaragua, Chile, and Mexico. The creature's name originated with the discovery of some dead goats in Puerto Rico with puncture wounds in their necks and their blood allegedly drained. According to UFO Magazine (March/April 1996) there have been more than 2,000 reported cases of animal mutilations in Puerto Rico attributed to the chupacabra.
Premiering at 10 p.m. Sunday, "The Haunted" takes an intimate look at stories of people whose animals act as mediaries to the afterworld.
Often the subjects of the most intense paranormal hauntings, animals are commonly believed to be more sensitive to spirits than people. And when spirits afflict pets, the animals aren't the only victims. Owners can also fall prey to paranormal activity and will often stop at nothing to rid their homes and pets of paranormal spirits.
"Animals are more psychic than people," Mackey said. "They go with their sixth sense completely. . . it's pure primal instinct."

Hey, Sting! The Ghost Will Be Watching You...Really!
‘I would never have said I believe in ghosts, until I saw one - and I’ve seen a ghost with my own eyes,’ said Sting.
The musician, whose former band The Police recorded an album Ghost In The Machine, continued: ‘I was in bed one night, a very old house I used to live in. And I woke up at three in the morning, bolt upright, looked into the corner of the room and thought I saw Trudie standing there with a child - our child - in her arms, staring at me.' ...

The Old Kaka'ako Fire Station Haunting
It was a dark and stormy night.
Well, it was dark, anyway. And I wished there had been some rain so the abandoned building would have been less stifling. A bit of lightning also would've helped illuminate our way as we carefully climbed the wooden staircase to what we hoped would be a rendezvous with a ghost or ghosts that have haunted the old Kakaako Fire Station on South Street.
