CDC finds thousands more HIV cases in U.S.

There are more new cases of Americans infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, than previously believed, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Saturday.

The other huge side of the problem is the lack of official and government concern. Really obvious things not being done:

1. Cheap and quick 15 minute saliva HIV testing kits.

A person can test their date or girlfriend/boyfriend right there on the spot.

So why are the kits not out there like they could be?

2. Microbicide gels that kill HIV and used during sex

We have a major HIV epidemic right? There are numerous chemicals known to kill HIV or inhibit its infection. You would think massive amounts of money and effort would be spent to get Anti-HIV gels on the market.

So why is this not being funded, researched, tested, and quickly brought to the market?

Seems like many people don't really care about the HIV/AIDs epidemic. We are talking really obvious and possible stuff not being done.

I guess the plan is to keep HIV/AIDs infection rates going and act surprised about it, even if the "epidemic" has been happening for the last 20 years.
