folks, I'm willing to bet the topic is referring to (yet another western fad/rehash) of the several thousand year old practice which emphasizes shifting of perception intellectually/behaviorly without the assistance of intoxicants. the energy with which you all jumped on that angle shows that it's a hot topic, (validating it for this forum) but europeans in the 1800 - 1900s and particularly since the recent sixties, the practice of deepening the sexual experience to (ostensibly)heighten the spiritual aspect of the act / interaction with a partner. An alternative perspective or reality (as in shamanism) to that which most see on a superficial/ tactile level, but, for some, has powerful repercussions (in this case, using sex as the vehicle). The various hindu or buddhist practices of Tantra (which can include sex) from several centuries ago and modifications since, are an example. Lately, a phenomenon related to extended orgasm has become another popular (and drastically simplified) example. I'd like to know what the topic writer had in mind, if anything.
