Karr Ponders Polanski's Plight

Full story: leisussurra.blogspot.com

Karr: "The priority for Polanski's attorneys is to fight extradition at this point. He could not be in a better place than Switzerland." For a man who abducted a twelve year old girl and married her when she was thirteen, it is no consolation to John Mark Karr that Roman Polanski was arrested in Switzerland after 31 years for a lesser act.

Why does JMK think Polanski couldn't be in a better place than Switzerland? I lived in Switzerland for ten years and it's changed much from the "safe haven" it once was.

It seems things aren't going well for Polanski in Switzerland. He will certainly be extradited to the US.

I think Polanski should have just served his reduced sentence thirty-one years ago and had this monkey off his back. Most people have forgiven him, even his victim has forgiven him.

This lowlife's opinion doesn't matter on any topic whatsoever. Let's stop giving him an audience

We can start our own thread on Polanski if we want to

Who the F**k cares what this moron thinks? Second, he needs to get a brain before he can claim to think anything at all!

Once again, you see why Karr's fraud on the criminal justice system was outed SO easily. He's a worthless researcher who leaves huge holes in his story. This idiot didn't even know the whole reason Polanski was ARRESTED in Switzerland was because they DO have an extradition treaty with the US. He's a lazy story teller, easily busted.

Karr should be shaking in his boots over Polanski's arrest. The same could very well happen to him for kidnapping his first child, Quintana Shotts.
At 12 years old she later became his wife only after he threatened her family that he would take her away for good if they didn't consent. Karr's family did NOTHING to intervene, it's almost like they consented to his behavior.

Biz, didn't Wexford Karr actually consent to his (JMK's)behavior? I'm a little hazy on his exact words, but I believe Wex refused to intervene in Quintana's behalf. I think I read somewhere that in Alabama the statute of limitations on rape never expires, so if this is true, I wonder how that affects Karr? Could he still be tried for raping her? If so, if authorities are still interested in him, that would provide them the perfect means to take him in, would it not? Of course if Quintana is afraid of him, that would be something to consider...

For looking so harmless to the public he has an amazing way of intimidating past acquaintences. I think they are all afraid of him. He could be charged today if anyone was willing to press charges. Most victims would not do that because they don't want the whole thing dredged up again. They just want it to be over. Especially with such a high profile perpetrator.
Wexford talked with Lara Karr's parents when they called asking for their daughter to be returned and told them "Lara belongs to John now", so you are right, he was almost accepting of John's behavior with underage girls. No one in his family appeared to tell him to take Quintana home to Alabama. He did that only to avoid being arrested. And then he found a way to work around it by convincing Quintana and her parents to let him marry her at 13. That's 6th grade!!! Can you imagine? I know if it were my daughter, there would have been a shotgun involved.

I don't see why Switzerland's a good place. Most people think of Switzerland as a "safe haven." It's not. They DO have an extradition treaty with the US and I'm pretty sure they said they will return Polanski to the US.

So, he's still in a Swiss jail:

<<<Polanski, 76, was arrested in Zurich in September. The U.S. request to extradite him to L.A. for sentencing is pending before a Swiss court, and next month a California appellate court is to hear his request for a complete dismissal of charges on the grounds of prosecutorial and judicial misconduct.>>>

It won't be dismissed in the US, that's for sure, and Switzerland will extradite him.

Ummm, I hate to contradict a fellow Ohioan, but Polanski is now under free on 4.5 million bail, able to live in his luxurious chalet in Gstaad. He has to wear an electronic monitoring device, though and is still considered a high flight risk.

Maybe this hadn't happened when you made your post? I don't know.
