They told us we had to cut more, we are not cutting more. So now it is THEIR turn to step up to the plate and honor their commitments.

1 Well, of course they are opposed to it. But they need this warning shot across the bow. They have to get it through their heads that if they are as obstinate and recalcitrant as many of their recent statements make them out to be, then they will pay a steep price for it. They told us we had to cut more, we are now cutting more. So now it is THEIR turn to step up to the plate and honor their commitments. |

I said: what! He is telling the truth but why?? How are we cutting more? First, I would like Al Gore and the WH tell us how much they have cut their carbon footprints. Then the rest. That is the spirit. |

1 Now clean energy is a costlier option. Even if China adopts it, the cost of goods sold in the US would increase considerably leading to reduction in consumption and lowering the demand. There may be a case of bringing back some of the manufacturing to the US as cleaner technologies would not pollute US mainland and cost differential between US and China may become insignificant. If it happens China would stand to lose. Why would China want to go for clean energy and technology? |

1 “Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket ... because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, natural gas, you name it ... Whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money, and they will pass that [cost] on to consumers.’’ http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_o... |

1 But what is that biased reporter covering up under these three dots? He is quoting President Obama out of context, he is hiding something in these three dots. Nobody should trust this reporter, since he ALSO says there is still scientific debate on the topic, and that it is 'robust'. But this is clearly false. The 'debate' is not scientific at all, it is a PR campaign run by and for the fossil fuel industry. As http://www.desmogblog.com/government/politica... puts it: "Few PR offences have been so obvious, so successful and so despicable as this attack on the science of climate change. It has been a triumph of disinformation – one of the boldest and most extensive PR campaigns in history, primarily financed by the energy industry and executed by some of the best PR talent in the world. As a public relations practitioner, it is a marvel – and a deep humiliation – and I want to see it stop." |

Sure Matt. Let's have the U.S. tell China (who holds our debt) what to do regarding global warming. I bet they will drop everything to follow our orders. From what I have read, China don't give a damn about commitments. Didn't they say they are NOT going to follow any crap & tax b/s? The Chinese government is still trying to grow their economy. Unlike the U.S. government who for reasons unkown doesn't seem to care about our faltering economy. Crap & Tax isn't going to save the environment. It will continue destroying our economy. |

1 What you neglect to mention is that the $170 figure is how much it will cost the U.S. taxpayers to'run' the crap & tax program. That is not what it will cost the taxpayers regarding the increased pricing of electricity, gasonline, oil, heating oil, etc. |
||||
Come on. You call something that has not happened yet to "continue destroying our economy" and "not going to save the environment". I am wondering why you are so adamant. What is at stake for you? |

Tariffs would raise the cost of consumer goods so while we drive out manufacturing and employment, we'd raise the cost of living. This is the economic equivalent of putting a rope around your neck and hanging.

"What is at stake for you?" How about being better able to afford to live by not having to pay higher prices caused by Crap & Tax? Many people in our country are struggling to live now & adding MORE taxes isn't the way to help. Crap & Tax will not reduce pollution if it allows polluting business/companies to just "buy" credits from another company(s)? Or gets them "free" from the government. Destroying our economy? For starters: http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/28... |
