Applauds For Mormon Church's Support of Civil Rights Measures, but Suspicions Remain

Full story: lezgetreal.com

Recently, the Mormon Church, also known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or LDS, threw their support behind LGBT Civil Rights initiatives regarding things like employment and housing discrimination. Of course, they drew the line at marriage equality. Today, the Empowering Spirits Foundation applauded the Mormon Church for their move to support Salt Lake City’s ordinances regarding employment and housing discrimination. According to their press release “The ESF was one of the first LGBT organizations to approach the Mormon Church after the Church influenced its members to spend millions for the passage of Proposition 8 in California

I trust the church about as far as I can throw their prophet. Granted, he IS a little old man, but even so, I doubt I could throw him more then 10 feet... If he is up for it, I would be happy to quantify the extent to which I would trust his church.

What a crock!

Just another attempt for the LDS church to try and get the lime light.

Enough.

It is this kind of mewly mouthed compromising and kowtowing to the gay establishment that is causing the erosion of religious freedom in this country.

Day late and a few million dollars short. They spend their energy keeping the LGBT community in the closet and out of marriage and now because they throw some half-hearted support behind a hate crimes law, we're supposed to forget everything else they've done and welcome them into the fold?

Thanks for playing... NEXT.

Religious freedom is not being attacked. It's GLBT civil equality that is at stake. Remember, there is seperation of church and state.
If church's want to be politically involved then they should give up their tax exempt status.

Yeah, right.

Try living in Utah where the LDS church has you by the balls and laughs all the way to the bank (using the tithing they steal from it's members).

I am waiting for the day when the elders get a message from Mr. and Mrs. God that gays can be priests and that deceased gay/lesbian couples need to be sealed. Following which sacred underwear will be offered in thong, jockstrap and bikini varieties in multiple colours.

Since you live in Utah this is a perfect opportunity to do some grass roots work and raise the issue of the church getting involved in politics. If their tax exempt status is truly threatened maybe they will stop interfering in the political process.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Scorpio

Your thoughts turn to the past today, putting you in a nostalgic mood. You're awash with sentimental tears as you dwell on days gone by or gaze at photos of people you'll never see again. However, try not to let this mood of reminiscence turn into a tendency to feel sorry for yourself and therefore to demand special treatment from others.
