Kevin Jennings the founder of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network has been tapped by the Obama administration to be the new Assistant Deputy Secretary of Education for the Department's Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools and is coming under increasing and unfair criticism by the radical right.

People using religion as a weapon against anyone they don't like has become far too typical. They hide behind the shield our laws afford them simply because they believe in some superspook. The time has come to fight back and not just with a few words, but fight back with vengeance. These people don't understand reason, they don't understand logic, so it is pointless to attempt to reason with them.

The talibangelicals want nothing more than complete pogroms against open g/l/b/t people. If you're Sen. Lindsay Graham or Gov. Crist of Phyllis Schlafly's son and you keep quiet enough about it, then the "faith biased" fundies will overlook it.

No, we don't like what is being said from SOME pulpits, because what is being said is ugly, hateful and downright evil. Churches that preach an anti-gay theology may call themselves Christian, but they sure aren't very Christ-like. While like everyone else we are capable of doing wrong, being gay isn't in and of itself wrong and neither is the physical expression of being gay if held to the same standards that govern straight behavior.

Our not being born to be gay is a lie you have to tell yourself in order to justify your intolerance and hate. The reality is, for the scientists who study such things, the question is no longer whether we are born this way, but how. That is something that puts a real damper on your dubious lifestyle choice of being bigoted against us, even by claiming that the Bible tells you so. We are not seeking "special treatment" or "special laws to protect us" but equality and that means the passage of laws which protect all of us equally, gay or straight...
