Earlier this week you ran a scandalous and unfounded story by hersbandandwife that michael jackson's accuser recanted. Unfortunately, no one else on planet earth ever heard about this. Continuing to run stories by hersbandandwife under the heading of gay interest news stories discredits our community as seen by our foes and hopefully has discredited your reputation within our community. Get your act together. If you couldn't find enough news today without having to fabricate it, your in the wrong business

I dislike this poster's unhinged writings which are just spamming for the no doubt equally unhinged website. As for what's on topic or off topic I am less sure.

Palin is a tricky devil. Needs constant watching. Being so narcissistic, she will love that?

Whether hersbandandwife is a moronic spammer isn't really the issue here. Palin is a completely clueless imbecile. Which is why she was perfect for John McCain's plans for president. Anyone who willingly leaves an elected position because someone says something nasty about her she don't like is obviously a vain, prideful idiot who is not capable mentally coping with the repercussions of holding a public office in the first place. Thank GOD for Alaskans she stepped down. Now we will see if they are still this stupid the next time they elect a governor.

Once again I see a story that has no source unless it springs forth from the heads of hersbandandwife.(Are they the source and authority for TOPIX now?) I would rather they keep their comments to themselves from now on. Their reliability and creditability have been shot as far as I am concerned. Do they really think that they are gay? They don't always seem to know who is and who is not. Maybe TOPIX could at least edit their posts for a source and/or accuracy. Once again, I heard it first from the pen of whom? Oh, yeah, those two. I sure bet those other reporters that work for the major networks and newspapers are getting tired of being scooped by Snoop and her sidekick. They forgot again to tell us, the readers, what qualifies Sara Palin to make headlines in this forum? To me, she is an unemployed woman that is grabbing for attention. Well, she never did anything for me. I'll file that into my Round File as we used to say when I was in High School. No, I can't. I have to research this in MY massive brain because I know the answer is there. Let's see ... And it could be that these two are trying to convince us now that Ms. Palin is gay...or better yet, the husband is gay, right? One of them must be for it to be in this forum? I am sure that is the rule, isn't it. Or has it just become a free-for-all. Oh, wait a minute; I know the key; it is the boyfriend of the daughter that just brought a "family value" baby into the world. He’s the one. I think he's cute. Ok, that settles it. It is the boyfriend/father (accidents do happen) that is the gay connection to qualify this story to be in this forum. Let’s welcome him aboard the gay train. You will fit right in. And to think: I was just about to give up reading this forum all together. What a Fool I would have been. So this is the new attention getter from TOPIX. I should win a prize for figuring out the correct answer. Aside:[I’ll take the Mercedes behind door number 3, Monty!]

While I agree with previous posters that this forum shouldn't be used for self-promotion by editors providing links to their personal blogs on other sites, if we're going to ride one about doing this, we might as well do the same to all the other editors who are just as guilty. Editors posting as "queerunity", "instantriverside", "womanistmusings" "Thomas Jackson" and the posters who provide links to LezGetReal, are all doing the exact same thing. All of them provide "news items" which link to their own blogs of of often dubious quality and rarely, if ever in some cases, provide material other than their own. While "Hersbanandwife's" "news items" tend to take that dubious quality to the greatest extreme, she is not the only offender in this regard. So, unless you start complaining about the others (and more importantly, notifying the site about the others), the complaints are meaningless. As for this "news item", it is actually better sourced than the notorious Michael Jackson story which was nothing more than a retelling of an internet hoax. If you skip over the completely unnecessary tangent about Sally Kern, you'll find the links that this "article" is based on. There is actually something to this. A number of credible sources, including the Huffington Post, are reporting that she is getting out of Dodge (or Juneau in this case) only steps ahead of the posse armed with federal indictments charging any number of people with embezzlement, bribery, fraud and other assorted charges over the building of the great white elephant that is the "Wassila Sports Complex" and the Palin home, including the very real possibility of Caribou Barbie herself. While it is just speculation at this point, an investigation into this by the feds has been ongoing in this issue for months now and the timing of the resignation does seem pretty suspect.

My problem with that article is the grammar. If you're going to have aspirations of running a blog that others will presumably want to read, one would think that at the very least you'd know how to use punctuation correctly!

People show themselves eventually and Palin is undoing herself nicely - in front of all. As to TOPIX "misreporting" - give us a break! FOX news reaches into the sewer and fabricates at least 50% of the "NEWS" and TOPIX did not make up the standard of using blogs and wild speculation to weave togather a story. The Palins of the world deserve the hostile reporting style TOPIX occasionally represents and are only leveling the playing field. In this game, "boyscouts" lose.

Consider TOPIX to be high zoot entertainment right on your desktop in your home.
I think "Miss Leggs" quit because of cellulite due to aging. Once her knees start drooping down to her ankles, she's done as far as Republicans are concerned.

The topic of this thread seems to be, "What is, and what is not 'on-topic' for an LGBT forum, and what constitutes serious, legitimate writing in the news and opinion arena?" Well, since it is exceedingly rare for LGBT issues to get a fair shake in the mainstream media even today, we still rely on the writings of individuals who may or may not give a wet slap about the AP stylebook or perfect grammar. The editors are not charged with linking only to serious, factually vetted hard news. In fact, as far as TOPIX is concerned, factuality is not a very big factor. No, rather, they are just as happy with sensationalistic, shoddy reporting that creates controversy, and thereby, all that much more member participation in the forums. Their advertisers want to see high numbers of page views, and care very little about how that is accomplished. This the nature of the real world. People only get real news when they will suffer nothing else. However, I might point out that many major newspapers have gone under while TV "reality" shows are raking-in millions. Most people don't want accurate, in-depth reporting--they want explosions and circuses. Otherwise, we'd all be content with Morning Edition on NPR, and we'd all sit down with a bucket of popcorn and watch the MacNeil Lehrer report on PBS. Yes, those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. The more foolish still, to expect the stone itself, afterward, to bleed upon the ground in remorse. The bottom line is: if you don't like the story, don't legitimize it with a comment. Sometimes, the most effective form of protest is a silent one.

The editors you mention have often been criticized and condemned for linking to their blogs instead of original stories. I, too, get annoyed by the link to a blog and search for the link to the story game. However, it seems to be the norm for most editors. You are correct that this story has credible sources. If you follow the links on the blog, they lead to links on other blogs that lead to credible sources. However, "hersbandandwife" has lost credibilty on this forum with alot of people. The article about Michael Jackson, which I still haven't found elsewhere, was just the start. Most people got fed up with their posting non-GLBT related stories to the blog followed by their "tough shit" attitude to about it. Personally, I get annoyed when I link to a thread to find that they are the editors. I will, however, read a few posts to see if anybody has something to say to peek my interest in reading the article. Otherwise, I don't bother to read the crap they post and just move on. "womanistmusings" is another editor that I don't read unless somebody peeks my interest in the article. With them it was one too many "whitey" and "elitist white gay males" rants that turned me off.

Once upon a time in the Northern State of Alaska there was this woman who thought she was important. So much so that she ignored common sense distroying her own house trying to tell others how to build a house. She fired a state employee without cause and when the order was refused she fired to supervisor who would not fire the Trooper. She told everyone that having a baby out of wedlock was great, but most did not care. She may have set contracts without proper bidding. She may have done many things. but Goldie locks was a really bad fobe and she resigned. boo hoo hoo

yep. the lady is a lair....for sure I watched that resignation conference and I'll tell you if that girl wasn't lying I just don't know people. I'm thinking she just would have been better off saying she needed to leave because of her family and not make up so much hot air.
