Get Married in Vermont, Be Legal in California? - Lez Get Real

Full story: lezgetreal.com

Well, if you can’t get married here, you can get married elsewhere and have it recognized here. That seems to be the new push out of the California legislature at least. SB 54 was introduced by San Francisco Senator Mark Leno. The Democrat is hoping to codify what the California Supreme Court has already stated when the refused to rule on issues regarding the out of state marriages in the challenge to Prop 8.

The "Full faith and credit" clause of the U.S. Constitution requires EVERY STATE to recognize the marriages and other official acts of EVERY OTHER STATE.

The is NO "Gay Exception".

I think we need to introduce a new bible that edits out Gods reference to us as evil. Maybe we can even edit out Duteronomy where God talks about a fair price to pay for a slave. (it's 2 shekels) Give the book away for free....let's abolish the current edition. It may take a while, but probably faster than Obama is moving toward helping us out.

Thomas Jefferson did that, in a way. He wrote a Bible that edited out God from it entirely.

Thomas Jefferson was not a Christian. He was a Deist, as many of our Founding Fathers were.

The Talibangelicals are always insisting that the U.S. was founded by Christian men as a "Christian Nation", but this is a blatantly untrue and is another example of the Radical right's use of the "BIG LIE" technique.

And before anyone jumps on me about these observations, let me say that i AM a Christian, born & raised, for more than 50 years.

PEACE !

That's been tried for ages. Although, the consequence remains the same.

Revelation 22:18-19
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

What is God saying here?

Well....You do not have to be a genius to understand these words.

Well....everything. In order for this so-called 'civil union', which is a total oxymoron...as there is nothing 'civil' about two people of the same gender "marrying"...the guidelines that will govern such a thing, cannot include God in them.

And well...it's not so much that society "cares" that homosexuals are desperate to be able to legally marry, it's the whole premise that it is your benefit-based agenda, for one. I mean...all this time has gone by that your fighting for this, but when will there be a mention of "Doing it for Love, and not benefits?"...hm? So for now...as society sees it....it's a mere spectacle.

"the guidelines that will govern such a thing, cannot include God in them." Which God, and exactly what does religion have to do with a civil marriage again?

Ah, where to start?

Let's see. First, gay people are equipped with the same emotions, ability to love deeply, and desire to form unions and families that straight folks have. We are raised by you, taught your values (the good and the bad), and want the exact same things for our loved ones that you want for yours.

Thus, we marry for ALL of the same reasons that straight folks do. Every single one--both positive and negative.

We can and do marry before God, in every state of the union, if we choose, and there are even a few places we can marry before society in general. You can dislike the idea, but it occurs every day.
The only differnce between our marriages and yours, is that they do not protect our families in the same way your marriage protects your family.

That's it. That's the difference.

You have the ability to take marriage protections and benefits for granted, since you obtain them automatically.

My family does not.

When one loves their spouse, and loves their kids, we tend to want the most security possible for them.

Why in the heck do you think that gay folks are demanding those benefits?

For the same reason you would, if they were suddenly stripped from your marriage.

We love our families enough to fight for them, their protections and security, and their recognition by the state.

Do you love your family enough to do that, if it were necessary?

How funny! The Christians did exactly that when they added the New Testament to the Old, then promised eternal damnation to anyone who tinkered with their addition.

This surprises/gladens you? Cali is one of the most liberal states going, that has bankrupted itself through it's self proclaimed holier-then-thou, liberal thinking is the best thinking state of minds with all it's socialistic welfare programs that has taken itself 20 billion plus into debt through this great mind set and it surprises/gladens you they accept gay marriage from other states?
I am not surprised that the politicians in Cali are more concerned about the plight of gays then the failing economic status of Cali.
The really stupid is...The really stupid does...sheesh.
There really is no end to the profound stupidity and ignorance of the Cali politician. What a sinking ship and no one in Cali seems to care. Gay rights first, then the sinking Cali economy second....lolololol. That is funny. ;P

As Govenor/King Arnold of the Late, One time great state of Cali said...."Our wallet is empty. Our bank is closed. Our credit is dryed up."...then he thinks quietly....no use everyone being miserable here. We'll keep passing gay right bills and screw the economy. It's screwed anyway :) lololol.

i may point out how wrong you are...you may want to bone up on some interesting gun laws in regards to the full faith and credit clause.

we all know the constitution also says that all men are created equal and you KNOW how well That whole thing has worked out for people.

they will marry a couple of atheists who despise God, but not two gay people who love God...interesting concept that whole religion thing...what a racket that business is....

our next war needs to be to get every church business to lose its tax exempt status...and quit pretending to be churches when they are actually just businesses with the sole intention of making lots of money through spreading hate and fear.

Nervous laughter just make you seem a bit silly.

You might want to explain just how making couples and families more secure is going to harm the economy.

More inappropriate laughter...

Odd.

Why do you think that protecting California citizens and working on the economy can't occur at the same time?
