I haven't seen it yet, but I plan on doing so soon. I saw "Borat" which is the first time I had seen Sacha Baron Cohen. I don't like gross movies and ths was by far the grosses I have ever seen. But it was UNDENIABLY funny. Cohen is a genius. I hope that "Bruno" (sorry, no umlaut easily available on this pc) is as funny as "Borat", but without the grossness. PEACE ! :)

I found it painfully funny in parts, and tedious in others.

It's worth noting that when Cohen satirized anti Semitism it wasn't by portraying a classic stereotype of a Jew. He portrayed an anti Semite.
We could reasonably ask why it didn't occur to him to satirize homophobia by portraying a redneck or talibangelical homophobe?
Having said that, I'm quite confident at least a quarter of "Bruno" is pretty funny, and when seen by blue state people - wherever they reside - that it will not appreciably reinforce negative gay stereotypes.
The reception and interpretation of the film by rednecks and talibangelicals is not hard to guess, either. It will be reinforcing of bigotry, not challenging of it.

He does at one point in the film play a homophobe.(IIRC, the character's name was "Straight Dave") The movie is very graphic. I'm surprised it was only rated R.
