I agree! Sacha Baron Cohen set the cause of the Kazakhstanian people back 25 years with "Borat". Now, with "Bruno" he is going to single-handedly destroy all the progress the gay community has made in the past few years with his stereotypical portayle of an fay gay fashion obsessed queen that trys to liken himself and other males in his company to one of "Sex in the City" girls.
How insulting! A typical gay male today would never do that. He would identify himself and his buddies as one of the "Desparate Housewives"!

Well Borat did not get my money and neither will Bruno.

Both were not even worth of the money spent to make them

The movie should NOT be able to hurt the GLBTQI Community........because it is just A MOVIE.......there have been good movies about the GLBTQI Community and there have been bad......So What.

People will believe what they want whether they see this movie or if they don't.

Except that Bruno made a gazillion dollars. Apparently several million people disagreed. Sorry.

Ah, common sense. Very dangerous.

When The Da Vinci Codes came out, catholics were up in arms about the damage and the insult to catholics world wide. As Ian McKellen pointed out, the movie wsa "a work of fiction."

Seems like anymore somebody is bound to be "offended" by whatever doesn't make them look exactly as they want to look. In a week, nobody will much care and my own guess is that the movie will have absolutely no impact on how people see gays. It's a comedy! It's fiction! If you don't think it will be funny, don't go see it.

Over the top stereotypes are always offensive, but with Cohen's work you definitely get the added element of seeing how rubes and bigots deal with those stereotypes.

"Borat" was hilarious, imo, and for a satire has some truly sweet moments. My sense just from the reviews so far is that "Bruno" will veer more towards the squirmingly uncomfortable sort of comedy that becomes inert at a certain point.

I wish his next film would be about fundies. He could surely outdo "Religulous".

Umm I hope you realize there is no country of Kazakhstanian.

Re: "Now, with "Bruno" he is going to single-handedly destroy..." WOW! That is a lot of power to give one movie.

Learn to laugh. Everyone realizes this is a joke. Well almost everyone...

I don't get this guy. He is in the same catagory as Dennis Miller to me. They both think that they are too smart for the viewer. Neither is funny. Their material seems so 7th grade to me.

There is a country called Kazakhstan. Borat didn't make that part up although most of the rest was pure fiction (apart from the reactions he got from unwitting rubes...)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/count... gives a good summary of Kazakhstan.

You give this man way too much power. "Single handedly destroy all the progress?" So I guess you feel that we "flamboyant" gays should go and hide until the battle is over? F*ck you! I'm gay, too! My flamboyance is not an "act." I can't help that I have a high-pitched lispy voice. I'm just me, and I have just as much right as you phony butch boys to equal protection under the law. You "butch" boys don't seem to mind my so called flamboyancy when you drop by my place and throw your legs up in the air, begging for a poke with my enormous....appendage.
If what you call "Flamboyancy" offends you, then you have internalized homophobia!
Therapy....check into it.

Anyone who finds Cohen's "work" to be funny, I immediately question their intelligence and maturity. His humor is akin to that of a prepubescent boy who gets his jollies saying "dirty words".

Borat was worth a few short sketches on a comedy TV show, or a Youtube blog. It was not worth a feature film.

I am confident that Brüno is another feature length "fart joke", and I will pass.

Oh my god! Will you people just realize that this is just a movie? If it offends you don't go. If you like this type of movie go for christ's sake. I'm a lesbian and can't wait to see it. It's just like going to see The Hangover, there are certain types of people that wouldn't want to see that too but some of us loved that but I also loved The Proposal. I also go to see most of the Disney/Imax movies with my daughter. It takes all kinds. Since when do we have to be one way or the other. And how dare you put down a gay man for being flamboyant. He is being more honest than most of you butch men will ever be.

Cohen isn't gay. He's using gay stereotypes to make money. That is why some people get offended by him.

I found Borat hilarious too but the Bruno character to me is much more annoying. I am not against anyone making up stereotypically gay characters either - Mel Brooks did it brilliantly without being offensive.

As for Kazakhstan, it is still a dictatorship though they have lots of oil money and don't resemble much in the Borat movie - their new capital, Astana, is an ultra-modern city. It is clear from the movie that the country he is really making fun of is Moldova. I assume there was some political reason that he did not pick Moldova for Borat's homeland.

Dennis Miller generally is smarter... and funny. Cohen is the type you'll laugh at and wish you hadn't.
