I expect she has larger aspirations, but I am sure Alaskans are delighted to get rid of the baggage. I don't imagine she has a ghoast of a chance on the national area. She is a flake. However, that sort of woman seems to appeal to Republicans.

Well it's either that or some of her shady past work is about to be brought into the light.....

She gives a surprise press conference, and announces that she is going to step down as Governor because "she feels she can be more effective outside of state government." Then she doesn't take any questions.

Consider that Sarah Palin has proven to be every bit as ambitious as she is vapid. Does anyone in their right mind believe that she would give-up the governor's office voluntarily... especially since she would only have held the office for another year or so?

No, there's a deeper story here, mark my words. Someone HAS something on her. Something big, scandalous, and potentially criminal. I have no doubt that she's been FORCED to step down or face dire consequences--clearly over something so explosive that it just CAN'T be made public.

It's only speculation as to what this dirt could be, but it's force and effect is obvious. So now, if she somehow does find a way to become more influencial, she'll be the governor who promised to serve, and then walked away from her duty because she had more ambition than patience. On the other hand, if she now rapidly fades into the obscurity she so greatly deserves, it will be obvious that the official vague reason she's given for stepping-down was just a smokescreen for a darker truth we may never know. Or, maybe we'll get the juicy details anyway in the coming weeks. These things tend to find their way into the daylight of their own accord.

Either way, goodbye Sarah Palin. Good riddance.

Sounds to me like there is some really negative news about to come out and she's just getting a jump on it. Maybe she thinks that will help defuse it.

When my last post came up, several words were highlighted in green, and double-underlined.

Wondering what that was about, I clicked on one of the words, and I got a sales page for a website selling laptops. Nothing to do with the word in question, incidentally.

I clicked back, and tried another one of the words. I got another advertising site. Again, nothing whatever to do with the word that was highlighted.

Look, I appreciate that Topix needs to generate revenue through advertising, and I wouldn't mind if they linked words in my posts to things that were actually related content--like Wikipedia does. The third time I reloaded the page, the highlights were no longer there... so perhaps they're beta testing something; I don't know.

But this is nonsensical exploitation. Topix, if you want to link arbitrary advertiser sites to words in my posts, then I expect to be compensated for the words I write, for the content I'm generating that you are selling as advertising.

Someone is going to reveal that she played many of the "librarian" parts in all those porn movies.

I am willing to bet that there is a sexual indiscretion that is going to come to light. The "Family Values" types are pretty predictable that way. LMAO -- how funny would it be if there is a female page somewhere who got flipped.:D Whatever it was, another falls off their moral high-horse.

Yeah, that would be frakkin' hilarious, but it's not going to happen. If she were pursuing political ambitions, she'd have finished her term as Governor. Nobody's going to support a presidential or even a senate candidate who just walks away from their office with nothing but a bogus excuse.

At least governors McGreevy and Spitzer had sex scandals under their belts. Rowland was facing a corruption investigation. Sanford's been banging an Argentinian mistress for over a year, and he's fighting to stay in office.

But Sarah Palin's reason? She feels she can be more effective outside state government? So, is she saying that she thinks the state government which she so proudly touted during her VP campaign is, itself, hopelessly "innefective," or is she saying that she herself is just hopelessly innefective as Governor?

I'm betting that she has gotten a lucrative offer from some major corporation. Perhaps as a board member; perhaps as a spokesperson. maybe she's been offered her own conservative TV talk show host gig.

So, if that's where she surfaces, she looks every bit like the avaricious Barbie Doll she is. On the other hand, if she doesn't have such an offer, then it's going to be very difficult for people to understand why she would spontaneously abdicate the governorship.

I've got ten bucks that says she's about to be named as the next feature anchor for Fox News.

You know the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Pit Bulls have integrity.

Use Firefox with ScriptBlock. it eliminates such issues, not to mention the TOPIX Games they now offer are so full of spyware my settings won't let me run them...

Is the reason why she's deciding not to finish her term becasue there might be a skeleton soon to be coming out of her closet???

We shall soon see.

I just watched the YouTube video of the press conference she gave.

She has that over-practiced plastic smile as usual, but there are a dozen micro-expressions, body language tells, and vocal cues (even though her statement was very obviously scripted and rehearsed).

She's absolutely concealing something, and lying about her reasons for resigning. It's written all over her.

Perhaps someone finally uncovered irrefutable evidence that it was her precious son Tripp (now in the U.S. military) who was one of three boys who was involved in the vandalism of a bunch of school busses a few years back. The rumor was that she paid to bury the incident. Do you think someone threatened to expose the cover-up? Hmmm.

My first thought was that she knows something is about to hit the fan so she's going to preempt it with some major damage control PR.

Make that "Track" not "Tripp."

What kind of morons name their kid Track anyway?

When I lived in Kentucky, I ran across people named "Trace" and "Chance." And there was a guy in Lexington called Gatewood who was campaigning to legalize pot.

Note to potential parents: research shows that if you name your son John, David, Richard, Steven, or Michael, they are considerably more likely to be successful in life than kids named, for instance, Croak, Spit, Hack, or Governor.

Certainly what it looks like. A pre-emptive strike. Just another Palin gaff! If you want to avoid the appearance of scandal, don't behave like you're trying to cover one up!

The blood is in the water now, and the media is going to have an absolute field day with her. It would have been more plausible if she'd claimed she was resigning due to her sever grief over the death of Michael Jackson. Heck, I'd have believed that from her.

The blood hounds will be out in search of the real reason Palin is stepping down.

There's bound to be a skeleton or two just waiting to surface.

As far as she running for President. Yeah... that's just a distraction.

Daily Horoscope for November 27

Libra

If you had a bad day with your partner yesterday, today is the day to kiss and make up. The Moon blends with Neptune to create a romantic passion; this may be a little over the top, but sometimes a bit of drama is in order. Those of you with children may find them acting up, but if you listen closely, you'll find they really just want and need your attention.
