GLBT need to give the President some time. Obama has not even been President six months. I realize we all want instant gratification with our civil rights but it does not happen that way.

This President is the first one to sign today the bill that gives Federal GLBT employees benefits to their significant others.

The system we have had for so long does not just change overnight. President Obama cannot just do all these things on his own. He is not a Dictator and he needs the Congress to act with him.

He is moving in the right direction, and I believe fully that once he has the USSC changed to the left over the next few years he will then be able to get the USSC to act quickly on the Constitution for civil union in all 50 States and full civil rights. He cannot say marriage or in favor of it because marriage is not in the Constitution. We can all be married right now because it is a religious ceremony. This President used to teach Constitutional law and he knows the secret is the secular document of civil union that will make our marriages legal.

Heteros cannot be legally married by a Priest unless they have that civil document from the courthouse.

Also, the President is not going to force Churches to marry people they do not want to marry because of separation of Church and State. There are many GLBT Churches that will marry us, and we will soon have the legal secular civil document. Give the President some time please.
Would Palin or McCain sign the Federal employee act? Hell no.

Anyone here that doubts the Presidents intentions watch the video of his acceptance speech. He mentions us less than three minutes into his speech and that was not politics because he already won the election. The President is up against many years of red tape that goes against GLBT and it will not change overnight, but it will change.

We should be thankful we have a President that is mentioning us and working in the right direction for us. We all need to grow up here and realize instant gratification does not work.

And we see the results of that choice.
Why don't you just ADMIT that:

Obamaniac is a LIAR, a homophobe, has NO intentions of working to give gay people equal rights, and that he supports DOMA & DADT.

Why don't you just ADMIT that ?

Because it is plain enough for everyone to see.

I find it hysterically funny that gay people who gave money to the Democrats, and worked to elect them, actually BELIEVED what they said !

Now many of you will answer by saying: "Well, what choice did I have ?! I couldn't support the Republicans."

To that I say: "It's EXACTLY that attitude that causes the Democrats to take your vote for granted and not do ANYTHING for us. Has Reid or Pelosi or Obamaniac made ANY attempt to even say that they will even THINK about repealing DOMA & DADT ? No. why should they ? They know they have your vote in the bag for no cost to them.

Now if you CONSIDERED voting for a third party, such as the Libertarians, or a moderate Republican, MAYBE then the Democrats would actually do something to get your vote.

But they won't, will they ?

And neither will you.

You voted for a Democrat ? Then I laugh at you, have no sympathy for you, and say you get what you deserve.

I am in FAVOR of Equal Rights, in ALL respects for all gay people, including legalizing gay marriage in all states, and having the federal government legally recognizing those marriages, but I sure as hell don't trust the democrats to do anything for us.

If you disagree, then please tell me why the Democrats will not even THINK about, much less mentioning, the repeal of DOMA & DADT (which a DEMOCRATIC President signed into law, the IMPEACHED B-A-S-T-A-R-D), since the DemocommunistsocilastPeople's Party, occupy the WHITHE HOUSE and a MAJORITY of BOTH houses of congress.

Explain that please if you disagree with me.

Could anyone give me the exact date, time, and location of this "event"? I might be in the neighborhood and would love to be in any demonstration outside. Hopefully, there will be no gay people paying a thousand bucks for the reelection of this guy at this event.

Nice evasion but I'll answer you anyway.

I'll admit it on or about November 5, 2012.

Like it or not the man still has 3.5 years left in office and as much as I want what I want, I am not so arrogant or egocentric to think that there are some more important issues facing the entire nation and the world.

The president signed a memorandum (not a bill or executive order), which expires as soon as he leaves office. It doesn't give any real new benefits to same sex couples.

He can not direct SCOTUS to hear cases.

SCOTUS ruled marriage is a fundamental right in Loving. You need to check Amendment 9 (which is one part of the Constitution our legal eagles should focus on, not just Amendment 14)

Also regarding the religious aspect. DOMA is an endorsement of a particular religious view of marriage over other religious views and thus violates Amendment 1.

Now I am very happy that he called on Congress to act. There is already a resolution in Congress to repeal/revise DADT.

Precisely how many Libertarians are in National Office?

Precisely how many pieces of legislation has the Libertarian Party signed into law on the Federal level?

I rest my case.

The DEM's may not be the best game in town but they are most certainly better than any other group in power - when it comes to LGBT rights.

Why are we acting surprised? This pre-dates the '08 convention when it became apparent that Leah Daughtry et al infiltrated (and now controls)the party on behalf of the black liberation homophobes who passed prop 8 and apparently now have Obama's ear exclusively. I found the lame attempt at tricking us with the non-benefits package more hurtful han anything else. Just be who you are, and do what you gotta do, Barack, save th patronizing bullshit-you'll need it.
