I think Pat Buchanan has mellowed with age.(Not so his sister, Bay.) Something seems to have cooled his jets.

I also think that Rachel and Pat set an excellent example, how opposing pundits can carry on a civil political discussion.

Rachel's show is great. I try and watch every night. And yes, she and Pat do seem to get along well but I swear there are times when you can see path seething when they are in disagreement.

The great part is that when you watch the way she treats guest like Republican Congressmen or someone from McCain's camp, she is very professional and has an intellectual conversation with them (not the yelling and cutting them off like O'reilly or Hannity do to democrats).
But when she and Pat go at it, it is almost like family dinner discussion time around the table where she has no problem putting him in place (in a good-hearted way).

I think your assessment is spot on.

While I almost always disagree with his positions, I've always got a kick out of Pat Buchanan. I guess it's because he reminds me of some of the pugnacious members of my largely Irish family. Political arguments were not for the faint hearted. Remember Bill O'Reilly going toe-to-toe will Phil Donohue? It was like that.
