Oh Please! The attorney is trying to get it reduced to manslaughter? That's when you accidentally kill someone in a car accident. This kid loaded a pistol, took it to school, and in front of a class full of Junior High kids, hurtled anti-gay ephitets while he mercilessly shot and killed the defenseless King in cold blood. There is no way on God's Green Earth that McInerney is not guilty of MURDER. And the law does not recognize the argument that the sentance would be severe. The sentances are set to fit the severity of the crime. In many states in this country, even a penalty of death does not constitute "cruel and unusual punishment" for a conviction on murder-I. Unless the court is prepared to declare open shooting season against LGBT kids in public schools, this charge should stand as murder, and McInerney should be sentanced accordingly.

The question I have been pondering (based on the information on the case available): Did this kid shoot King because he was gay? or did he shoot him because other kids were teasing him over King's attraction to him? Either way, it was tragic and inexcusable. I am just glad I am not a judge or jury in this because this will be a heart breaking case.

bottom line, person A shot person B. No reasons, no passing the blame, no excuses, no ifs ands or buts about it.

I just feel so sad about this whole case. Yes the shooter should get punished for slaying another human, but he is so young. I'm not saying he should only serve time till he is 21 or anything like that, but what went through this kids head that made him want to kill a fellow human? Should we blame the parents, the gov't, or maybe the Phelps freaks. All I can say is that this same shit is going to continue and the victims are going to get younger and younger. Everyone wants to point the finger but nobody wants to take time out of their busy schedules to look into cases like these.

I have always wondered the mind set of someone who seeks out gays for murder-(or any other jailable crime for that matter) don't they think about the consequences of prison, and a lifetime of being bent over, riding the baloney poney? Why position yourself, so to speak, where you will be doing for life what you apparently loathe?

Everyone seems to forget that the poor boy was sexually harassed by Larry and nobody did anything to stop it. You know what stopped the harassment, shooting Larry. Was it justified, yes. Was is right, no. Should he go to jail, absolutely not he is a minor. As a member of the LBGT I am sickened by how we take these stories and turn people in martyrs. It is dangerous to be flamboyant and cross-dressing and kids need to know that and they need to know it is not okay to harass anyone on either side of the isle. So sad that so many lives will be ruined by the lack of understanding we have and our ability to teach that understanding.

That's like saying that, because the boys from Columbine were made fun of, thier actions were justified. The point at hand is that a teenager, with pre-meditation, murdered a classmate, and there was nothing "justified" about it. I don't know if, at 14, he should be tried as an adult, but he does need to be punished. You don't get a, "Kids will be kids", when it comes to cold-blooded murder.

So sad that so many lives will be ruined by the lack of understanding we have and our ability to teach that understanding. The only Justification for killing someone is to protect someones life. If Larry had gone at that boy with a knife and he protected his self and Larry was killed, that might be justified. Otherwise, not in the least. From what you say, I would be justified in killing any and every person that ever made a pass at me. That would kind of sucked when the love of my life made a pass at me on our first date now wouldn't it? Sexual harrasment is wrong, and your right, it should have been dealt with but it wasn't. When I was in school, it sure as heck wasn't dealt with in the least, and I don't remember anyone getting shot in the head becouse they made a pass at the wrong person. There has been too much of the blame game going on in the world. Too much of "my parents suck so it's not my fault I shot someone". That's why I said before, no reason, no excuse, no explination, no way to justify a cold blooded murder.

The bottom line is the 15 year old kid was flamboyantly gay, and he was attracted to a younger boy who was in his school, and he was pushing himself sexually on the boy in front of others, and not only telling him that he liked him but letting it be known to the whole school causing this young boy ridicule, and shame. The boy got upset, and plotted revenge on this kid for the humiliation he faced, and maybe even feared that this kid wouldn't stop until he turned him gay! Also let's not forget say this fag tried to kiss the straight boy, and the kid pushed him off, an people saw the whole thing! I'm not saying it's right to kill anyone! FAR From it! But I can understand the mind state this boy was in I mean that shit would fuck your head up! I would have beat the fag up or taken a bat to his face, and made sure he left there alive, and with the message to leave me the hell alone! But everyone deals with issues differently, and maybe this kid had a gun at home cus of his parents, and found the gun, and his inner voice told him to do it. Either way the straight boy didn't cause this the gay kid did, and let's not lose focus of this. I think the kid should get medical treatment til he's 21, and maybe the rest of his life! But shouldn't face jail time.

But shouldn't face jail time. No. Forget about who was gay and who was straight, the person holding the gun is guilty, simple as that, that is how our system works. We do not have a "revenge" clause for murder. Murder is murder, and the only argument for murder is self defense. UNless that boy threatened the other one with violence, it was nothing but cold-blooded murder. We punish murderers, or isn't that still how our laws work?
