If that is as close to a rational argument that you can possibly come up with for anyone to support the amendment, it hasn't got a snowball's chance of passage. Most reasonable people would be to freaking embarrassed to go along with your simple-minded and obviously ill-informed bumper sticker mentality to such a serious question. It may be that simple for you, but that really doesn't say a whole lot for you now does it???

With all of the economic issues facing Americans, I would be surprised if most care about this issue at all. Christians are starting to peel themselves away from "Old Testamment" rantings. Modern times deserve a more reasonable approach to social issues. Issues that were not as prevalent, or non existant when the Bible was pieced together. Even the Taliban is out numbered by moderate Koran readers. The so called "American Taliban",Christian Evangelicals are finding themselves as mistrusted, greed driven, Fascists by the general public. Atleast their leaders appear to fit this description.

The only thing simple here is you. If people like you don't start getting their priorities right soon, the country will only get worse. Unfortunately things get worse for good, hard-working, honest people as well. If it were just ignorant people like you I'd say go right ahead.

It is entirely possible that CA will vote to make it illegal for same-sex couples to marry because heterosexual marriage is in trouble and straights have been given someone else to blame for it's failure.

Heterosexuals are losing marriage. 50% of their marriages fail within 5 years and 60% of their second marriages fail. More children in America are growing up in families with unmarried, never married, divorced parents than married. This has NOTHING to do with people who can't even get married and are begging for it, but we want something they feel they're losing so they imagine that we're stealing it from them. The truth is that there is no real training for long term committed relationships in our society. Marriage has been traditionally treated as a license to have sex and the relationships of the married were based more on co-dependant gender roles than on love. This does not exist in same sex relationships. There is NO OTHER REASON THAN LOVE FOR GAY RELATIONSHIPS. Until the same can be said for heterosexual relationships they will continue to fail in the 21st century because old sex roles don't exist anymore and birth control has forever changed the dynamic of heterosexual sex. Some straight people feel enormously threatened by this. They feel like the end of marriage is upon them and Gays want to finish it off. Actually the opposite is true. Gays will usher in a new era for long term relationships - one based on egalitarian love between equals based on love.

Actually, all that avatar says to me is, "NO RIGHT-WING, CHRISTO-FACIST NEO-NAZIS".

I thought that was very well said. However, I don't think the CA amendment will pass. Enough people realize what a non-issue this really should be in the first place, I think....Especially when we all have pretty big things to worry about like the Mortgage Crises, the failing economy, and an unsustainable war in a country which never attacked us in the first place.

The right-wingers are once again going to try to use LGBT equality as a wedge issue in the presidential campaigns--which will demonstrate even more clearly that the neoconservatives who got us into such dire straights as a nation have their priorities thoroughly confused.

I don't know what that means. How exactly is my relationship "play" and who are you to judge what you know nothing about?
