Polish homophobe with crime charges
Last four years Polish procurator office tried bring former League of Polish Families parliamentarian and former Vice Marshall of Mazovia district to crime court.
For whole this time Wojciech Wierzejski was protected by parliamentarian immunity. But when in 2007 LPF loose elections, he loose his immunity too. Procurator office decided brings his dark cases to court.
What this case is about? In 2004 Mr. Wierzejski refuses to shake hand with me on public interview. He said that he is afraid of AIDS. After this incident many people sent him a letters with disapointments. So Mr. Wierzejski took all names and adresses from this letters and published them on his website as a "list of faggots and lesbians who are attacking him".
He made two big mistakes. First - it is against Polish law to publish names and adresses of people who wrote a letter and don't agree for this - especially by public office. Second - this is against Polish crime law also to publish information about sexual preferences of people who don't agree for this. By the way - most of this people was heterosexual ;)
Today I receive invitation from a court for first case hearing. As a victim I have right to be a civil persecutor in that case. It means that I will cooperate with public procurator in persecutor role.
First court meeting will be at 19th August. According to Polish crime law, Mr. Wierzejski can go to jail for 3 years.
Keep fingers crossed.

While I am glad we do not have some of the laws other countries have here in America, I must admit that this case just seems a fitting karma for a homophobic politician. Granted, he could have been charged for slander here in our country for posting names of letter writers the way he did, it wouldn't amount to jail time. Thank you Szymon for fighting such a battle.... and for you heartfelt attempt at typing in English. Took a while to read but worth the effort.

Thank you dante2810. English is not my primary language and I know I made a lot of mistakes. But I try to share our struggles with the World. I hope that my language skills become better with practice ;) Thanks "born that way". Good wishes are always important :)

Keep us informed of how this turns out.... and please be careful with your safety during all this. Our thoughts are with you.

I will Dante... I will... there is more news coming in. We are on battlefield now ;)
My safety...sigh... for last 10 years I had about 300 "accidents" with radical right wing supporters. 3 times someone try to kill me. I know very well what safety for gay activist mean in Poland. But don't worry. I am protecting myself as well as I can. And I know that one day Poland will be safe country for everybody... one day for sure.

You organize your message clearly, which is the most important aspect. For the rest, we'll help you practice. And good luck to you.

Your message is clear and understandable. Poland of course is predominately Catholic which accounts for the belligerence of the homophobe bigots in Poland. My prayers are with you Sniemiec.
