Nike to drop ads som(e) see as homophobic

Nike said Friday it will pull its ads for its Hyperdunk basketball shoes after some critics said they fed the homophobia of some viewers.

As much as I applaud society's caring for our feelings, it's a bit strange to see apologies and scandals over any commercial or joke that might, with considerable imagination, be interpreted as slightly offensive to gays, while it is completely normal and mainstream for presidential candidates to argue against us having the civil rights which affect us every day.

It's like watching the Don Imus scandal and then having a referendum on whether drivers' licenses should be for whites only..

I think this is the ad. It's pretty hard to construe it as sexually suggestive.

This PC bullshit is being taken to extremes. If it keeps up people are going to be afraid to talk for fear of upsetting someone.
I watched the ad and saw nothing offensive or sexually suggestive about it and I'm gay.
There are always going to be those pain-in-the-ass people who take offense at everything who should spend less time complaining and more time addressing their issues with a good therapist.

The commericals weren't so much in question as this photo-ad that was slapped up in poster form in a lot of places. http://blog.oregonlive.com/playbooksandprofit...

Thanks for posting the correct ad. It certainly didn't awaken any hormones for me. It's nothing like, say, an ad for wrestling.

It didn't do anything for me either but wonder how many times the poor guy had to get hit in the face until they got that shot. Considering that Nike is known to be a fairly progressive company when it comes to LGBT issues, homophobia didn't come to mind when I saw it, poor taste yes, but not particularly homophobic...
