His soul is dead, and I suspect that he is retiring because he knows the GOP will lose the senate this fall.

You ignorant idiots. Joe Bruno has touched every part of upstate New York. He is the only reason most of us even continue to live in this hellhole. Quite frankly, not one of you lives in this area so shut the heck up and live your queer lives in your queer communities. My FAMILY, friends and neighbors would appreciate if you'd keep you bedroom antics and socially inept opinions to yourselves. WE'RE HERE, NOT QUEER, GET USED TO IT!

My, but you put a lot of energy into trying to make everyone believe that you are not gay. Well,
maybe you aren't. Who cares?

Have all your friends, neighbors and family members authorized you to speak on their behalf or are you just fibbing?

What you fail to realize is you don't live in a black hole (well, maybe you do, but that's beside the point). Anytime a politician, whether he be local, state or national comes out for or against something, his/her statements will be used to further the political leanings of everyone of a like mind across the country. So, even though Bruno has not direct effect on the legislation in my state, he can certainly add fuel to the fire. So, whenever one of these right-wing, fundamentalist, closed-minded individuals takes a fall anywhere in the US, it's jubilation time across the country. And, to further the point, this obviously garnered national attention, or I wouldn't have known about it, so I have every right to make comment. As soon as you realize that things are not your own personal glass bubble, the better off you'll be.

Yes, everytime we went to the polls to re-elect Senator Bruno we reaffirmed our beliefs were the same as his. Between the loss of him and Congressman Michael Mc Nulty, the political State of New York will be changed and not for the better.

I hope to be able to welcome the free state of New York to the 21st century. I'll be thinking of you in February while I'm lying on the beach in Santa Barbara sipping mojitos and you do whatever you do to get through the winter in upstate New York.

Purdy Lips Bruno actually let a lot of pro gay legislation pass, including NY's gay rights law. He eventually saw the writing on the wall in terms of the will of the people in NY.

He has been an obstacle to marriage equality, it is true, but I guess with his retirement he saw the writing on the wall on that issue as well.

BTW, u got purdy lipz, Jethro.

Ignorant idiots Steph? You have gay neighbors, gay cops, gay nurses, gay teachers, gay electricians, gay relatives ... all around you. We live in upstate NY by choice, which is NOT a hellhole as you call it, but a great place to live, work and be decent. Open your mind and your heart. We are NOT talking about our sex lives anymore than you discuss your's in polite company. Relax, we're not interested in recruiting you or your children. We're doing just fine, no thanks to you.

[Gay Upstater]"Ignorant idiots Steph? You have gay neighbors, gay cops, gay nurses, gay teachers, gay electricians, gay relatives ... all around you."

No I don't - that's why I live where I do, I don't have any gay relatives, and whether my cops, teachers or nurses are gay. I'd never know I suppose. However, let me put it this way Will is fine, Jack needs to go...

"We live in upstate NY by choice, which is NOT a hellhole as you call it, but a great place to live, work and be decent."

I don't know which NY YOU live in. The NY I am living in spends my tax dollars without representing me (once Mc Nulty and Bruno are gone anyway.) I am forced to pay for social programs I don't believe in, fund laziness and legislation that opposes my core beliefs. If that isn't hell I don't know what is.

"Open your mind and your heart. We are NOT talking about our sex lives anymore than you discuss your's in polite company. Relax, we're not interested in recruiting you or your children. We're doing just fine, no thanks to you."

Actually, I don't believe there is a "Straight Pride" parade in Albany (or anywhere else in NY). Perhaps I would be more accepting if your "lifestyle" choice wasn't being forced down my throat (no pun intended). If you are doing just fine, then why change the laws?

I cuddle up with my children and read them stories from the Bible in front of the fireplace. They LOVE the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. See I don't need alcohol and sand in my crack to enjoy life.
