Former NBA star’s opposition to gay marriage stirs anger

Sacramento mayoral candidate Kevin Johnson upset local gay and lesbian leaders after saying he believes marriage is between a man and a woman. The former NBA star made the statement in response to a question during a candidate debate this week.

This guy is a FORMER NBA player...I care about his opinion why exactly?

His religion doesn't support gay marriage...I thought we was running for mayor...a civil service position...not a position in his church.

Yet another politician perfectly comfortable with representing only part of the citizens that pay his salary.

Heather Fargo for Mayor of Sacramento! A vote for Kevin Johnson is a vote to turn over public control of our community to private interests. Vote NO to give-aways of public trusts to private entities, NO to "charter schools" that misuse funds and require students to do work on behalf of their slumlord principal. The guy doesn't have a clue about managing his properties, why would anyone turn over running the city to him?

His warped interpretation doesn't. There is NOTHING in the Bible against homosexuality, and many Christians support marriage equality.

There's nothing wrong with people having faith in their life, and those people being in public positions, IF they understand the basic American principals of equality and seperation of church and state. This guy doesn't seem to...

Nah, the whole "people who are really homophobic are secretly gay" stuff is kind of nasty and underhanded.
