A Gay Adoption Head Scratcher
If irony is defined as the gap existing between what should be and what is, then the following story fits that definition.

Interesting.
This Lesbian couple opened their homes, were at the top of the list by the social workers for wanting to place foster kids with because of their exceptional care and concern and even gave up personal vacation time to care for hospitalized foster child... And then some Fundie lawyer jumps into it when they decide they would like to adopt this same child. Just a couple questions: How many of you Christian Fundamentalist have done even 1% of the foster care these women have done? And how many of you so called "christians" have opened your homes to these abandoned, abuse kids and even gave a thought to adopting them? Your pathetic hypocrisies will be your albatross. |

Not to change the subject but probably the same number that protest outside Planned Parenthood but never lifted a finger to adopt a child.

This is just disgusting! These kids were damaged by HETEROSEXUAL "parents". It took a lesbian couple to unconditionally take them in, show them love and support, try to take care of the damage done to these poor kids, and do it all graciously and happily.
These damned fundies DO NOT have ANY child's best interests at heart, only their own blind and irrational hate. That judge should be debenched for some of the things he said, and the lawyer should be disbarred. These ladies were the ones to take total responsibility for taking this baby to the hospital (far away) to fix what the child's HETEROSEXUAL parents had done. It seems that the straight couples are the only ones in this story doing the damage, committing the abuse. Religion needs to stay the HELL out of our courts and our laws. They have no f***ing place there. Thjey can keep their hateful fundie tripe within their own f***ing steeples. (Yes, this article pissed me off quite a bit.) |

We had a case here in Indiana of Gay man wanting to adopt 4 kids with fetal alcohol syndrome having the adoption blocked by the rabid fundie foster parent who turned out to be raping her for about 2 years.
This worthless shit makes me turn Linda Blair. http://reformation.com/CSA/baptistsabuse.html http://www.mediastudy.com/articles/av5-26-05.... and if you don't feel like linking here's the cut and paste relevant paragraph from the 2nd link: Earl “Butch” Kimmerling, a Republican homophobe made a name for himself through his anti-gay activism. In 2000, the Indiana school bus driver successfully led the fight to prevent a gay couple from adopting an eight-year old girl. He and his wife, who over the years housed almost 50 foster children for the state of Indiana, went on to adopt the girl themselves. Kimmerling, the family values crusader who argued that gay couples could never provide the same healthy environment that heterosexuals could, is now serving a 40-year prison sentence for molesting the eight-year old girl. Spouting the name of Jesus while raping a little girl, yeah, that says sanctified. |

(correction) Mr. Peterson was able to adopt the 3 boys but the adoption of the girl was blocked by Kimmerling and his fundie pals.
Sorry so furious I can't edit properly. |

As well it should have!!!! It's terrible how these people insist on injecting their belief system into CIVIL society. Believe what you like, in your own church and in your own homebut don't try to force the rest of us to follow your belief system. |
