Moderate Muslims: Gay is Okay

Muslim scholars at a meeting in Jakarta announced on Mar. 27 that homosexuality is natural and part of God’s creation. Within the full context of Islamic teaching, the scholars said, the faith does not reject homosexuality. The scholars said that anti-gay teachings spring not from Islam, but from limited understanding of the teachings of Islam.

so glad to read this, I have always believed being gay is not a sin, it's not what you do in bed, it's how you live your life out of the bed.

newsflash: MUSLIM'S ARE MORE ENLIGHTENED THAN CHRISTIANS.

BUT

all religion is bunk. I'm not saying people get nothing from it. It just is not for me. Any religion. I don't anyone telling me there is a God and He wants me to behave according to Him. That's so Paternalistic. God has no gender.
Don't tell the Pope, he'd have to explain why women are seen as lesser than men.

Remember these are moderates, not fundamentalists.

The fundamentalist muslims believe homosexuality is a sin as do the fundamentalist christians.

In this article alone there is a example of such. The ending of the article quotes an Indonesian state official who feels homosexuality is a sin.

Looks like the usual split between fundamentalists and moderates. I wonder who will win this time.

True. It seems Islam, Judaism and Christianity are alike in this regard. All have fundamentalist who hate gays and all have moderates and liberals who do not. I am pleased to see the moderates of Islam speaking out.

Religion is bunk but the teachings of the main players, Christ-n-others, are not. Love, compassion and forgiveness, though, are hardly ideals the religious right practices.

How can this be possible? This has to be a joke of some kind?

In the Quran and the Bible it talk about this topic...

SURA VII: 78-84 [On Lot at Sodom]

78. Then the earthquake took them, and in the morning they lay prone in their dwellings;

79. and he turned away from them and said,'O my people! I did preach to you the message of my Lord, and I gave you good advice; but ye love not sincere advisers.'

80. And Lot, when he said to his people,'Do ye approach an abomination which no one in all the world ever anticipated you in?

81. verily, ye approach men with lust rather than women- nay, ye are a people who exceed.'

82.But his people's answer only was to say,'Turn them out of your village, verily, they are a people who pretend to purity.'

83. But we saved him and his people, except his wife, who was of those who lingered;

84. and we rained down upon them a rain;- see then how was the end of the sinners!

Thee wanted Lut(the prophet of the time) to go away, they wanted to force them out of the village because they didnt want anything to do with this acts of gay lust.

Génesis 13: 12-14

Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.

But the men of SODOM were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.

And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:

It says about Sodom... i could put more... there is alot of places in the bible...

Remember God is most mercifull if someone repents...

I work with a moderate Muslim, he has no problem with me or with the fact that I am not straight or with the fact that I am Pagan. He is a cool, guy and I enjoy talking with him.
