Rage rising on the McCain campaign trail

With recent polls showing Sen. Barack Obama's lead increasing nationwide and in several GOP-leaning states, some Republicans attending McCain-Palin campaign rallies are showing a new emotion: Rage.

In Minnesota, a woman told McCain: "I don't trust Obama. I have read about him and he's an Arab."

McCain shook his head and said, "No ma'am, no ma'am. He's a decent family man...[a] citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues. That's what this campaign is all about."

He also served on the board of directors of the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the Center for Neighborhood Technology, and the Lugenia Burns Hope Center.

State legislator, 1997–2004

Basically this character has been in & out of the workforce for ONLY 15 YEARS including being a politician 11 of those 15 years!

How is this a resume for success?

I see "NOT READY" written all over this.

If the writer of this article likes that quote he ought to follow Michelle Obama around for awhile. Those quotes from the future also ran are precious.

Good for McCain - he told the truth to a confused lady - Obama is not an "Arab" or dangerous at all. McCain just thinks he would be a better president.

Maybe the hacks on here will learn something?

Nahhhhhhh.

Did anyone see the speeches today. The one elderly lady saying she was scared to vote for Obama because he was "Arab" and other excuses.

I just really got the feeling that these audience people were sort of like "plants" at a tent revival meeting.

Through their statements, he was able to "look" like he was trying to take the high road. When he just happened to need that sort of statement to serve as an opportunity to "Heal" his campaign.

I'm not all crazy about McCain, his racial slur G00k was the icing on the cake. but besides that, I do admit he is a better man for not fuel for a mob to go rampant. Scary backwater people with shotguns and methlabs scare me.

These people don't need any encouragement to hate. They aren't here for politics they are here for some sort of lynching. Palin's an idiot who would let the run wild on ordinary citizens and cause chaos. But for mccain to actually put a hold on his political agenda to set the record straight is a good show of character. Not blind rage and stupidity. I can see that he does have good qualities that would make him a great president. unfortunetly I also see to many bad ones as well. We can't afford to have that in a time of economic crisis.

Based on the simple fact that he knows how to win elections. Same criticisms he over came when he won the Illinois state senate and then the Federal senate seat. He is not your average politician. He's got the right wing loosing sleep. Notice that the politics of fear aren't working. Notice that millions of American don't really care that the DOW dropped to pre Clinton Levels.

McCain did take the high road. I think he had to see the ignorance he was feeding. Even McCain had to step back after realizing how gullible some of his supporters were. He's realizing his comments are taking to the farthest extreme...regardless of his intentions.

It's amazing we have people like that woman voting...but it's their right. You only wish she was more intelligent because her right to vote morally demands intelligence.

I bet this same woman who claims Obama is Arab and a Muslim has also screamed that Obama was part of the same Rev Wright Christian church for the last 20 years.

.....I'm sure she doesn't reconcile the two thoughts. She just piles it all up on her "fear sandwich".

Please...I wouldn't be surprised if the media and/or Obama plants people in McCain's audience. There were claims that people were shouting racists statements but people at the McCain rally said they heard no such thing. There were about 4 protesters in the parking area. Everyone else was having a good time supporting McCain.

Is there any video of the people where were supposedly shouting racists remarks? I certainly haven't seen any. And if there is, again, I wouldn't be surprised if they're plants.

Gullible? I just hope he did not pass the offering plate. I really think those may have been "canned questions" although I do believe she represents many of his followers. I am not trying to be sarcastic, but he really reminded me of Steve Martin in that movie "Leap of Faith" when I watched it.
