It will be great to have a President who understands science. Hospitals across the country are refusing to use drugs and devices approved during the last 5 years, due to the political interference with testing and certification, and it doesn't stop there: [...]interference from the White House is just part of the problem, said Francesca Grifo, a former government researcher and now a director at the Union of Concerned Scientists. Industry lobbyists are all over government agencies, trying to influence research that will impact their corporations, she said. "These special interest groups are being given access at the highest level." ...The Union of Concerned Scientists has been tracking the Bush Administration’s activities within the scientific community. No fewer than 1,191 scientists employed at nine federal agencies have reported to the group that they fear retaliation from their superiors because the results of their research are threatening to corporate or other interests, according to Grifo. "What we've been seeing is that when certain programs produce research results that are considered inconvenient they are being penalized by having their funding cut," Grifo told IPS. One such program is an annual listing of pollutants released by private companies, called the Toxic Release Inventory....This interference has been directed at climate change research, new birth control drugs, species protection, consumer safety studies and agricultural research, the scientists said.[...] [...]a microbiologist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture was prevented 11 times from publicizing his research about the dangers of bacteria in the air near massive pig farms in Iowa and Missouri -- a big business that supplies America's pork. His research found that the bacteria are resistant to antibiotics. But his supervisor refused to allow him to discuss his results, saying in one memo to him: "politically sensitive and controversial issues require discretion." http://ipsnews.net/news.asp...

If he is elected and all of the programs that he has proposed are enacted he will have to raise taxes to an all time high.
He will be the greatest "tax and spend" Democrat of all time!

Russia and the United States have cooperative space programs in operation, I wonder if the new cold war has the space program stranded.

So much for being a new era politician enabled indebted to the small donor... ---------- Obama Raises $7.8 Million in San Francisco http://www.kron.com/Global/story.asp... BARACK OBAMA RAKED $7.8 MILLION SUNDAY...IN SAN FRANCISCO...a VIP dinner crowd - MANY OF WHOM PAID $28,500 to attend. House Speaker NANCY PELOSI, WHO CALLED HIM "A LEADER GOD HAS BLESSED US WITH AT THIS TIME." IN APRIL, AT ANOTHER FUNDRAISER IN THIS PROSPEROUS, LIBERAL CITY, OBAMA MADE HIS INFAMOUS REMARKS ABOUT BITTER SMALL TOWN VOTERS WHO "CLING" TO GUNS AND RELIGION. Obama avoided any such characterizations this time but did say..."The fact of the matter is, at a certain point...people...start saying to themselves,(there is) A PLAGUE ON BOTH YOUR HOUSES. ---------- This is SO funny it is sickeningly sad. Condemning everyday people who believe in the Bible and the right to bear arms didn't work, so now they try to patronize them. In Sodom Francisco, the Obama-ssiah is anointed by Nancy Pelosi as a prophet from God - then he takes up the role by echoing Biblical prophecies. The party of non-believers present us with their Savior...

Of course, I can't expect you to understand the concepts.

Anyone who has bothered to learn anything about our political system would know that $28,000 is the limit for a party fundraiser. Obama remains under federal caps and cannot raise more than $2500 per person. Obama was at a PARTY fundraiser, not a campaign fundraiser. Obama raised $51 Million in July, with 67000 new donors. McCain raised $29 Million. I won't hold it against you. You're just jealous.

Anyone who would pontificate that life begins at conception has no knowledge of science. Do you think Obama got out of Columbia University without a working familiarity in science? Obama graduated in 1977; McCain in the late '50s. McCain hasn't even bothered to learn to work a computer. What gives you the idea that he has any knowledge of science beyond that required to crash 4 planes?

Summer Rain, you never cease to amaze me with your blind faith in Obama. He is no better than McCain. The key is who are the handlers and power brokers for both of the candidates? I doubt you will get a clear picture of that as both try to scrub their web pages of links to CFR, Tri-Lateral commission, Rockefeller and Kissinger et al. What might be more meaningful is to see who the handlers prod them to pick as their respective VP choices. I'm not a betting man, but I doubt McCain would fill out a term due to age-related issues, and I suspect Obama wouldn't last a full term due to a trigger happy jerk. That said, a VP choice who is well-grounded in various affairs of state, economy and other key issues is what will be the determining factor. Obama and Biden? weird! Obama and Bayh? off the mark. Obama and Richardson? Por que? Obama and the Va. gov.? double inexperience. On the other side Mc and Ridge? Not! Mc and Lieberman? Oy veh! Mc and Romney? Maybe the smartest pairing. But as I said, I find little of interest in Mc or Obama. I've been through quite a few election cycles and this is the most over-blown costly, drawn-out contest between two very drab individuals.

GREAT! Obama is out there promising to spend your tax dollars some more and you blindly believe that he is the "second coming".... You are a nut bag! Plain and simple....haven't you ever heard that good fiscal policy is not accomplished by "spending"? It is done by reining in spending, building the economy up...Mr. Big Spender is offering all these spending plans so that stupid people will vote for him! It can't be done!

Your "government stimulus" has worked real well over the last 45 years hasn't it?(see Lyndon Johnson's Great Society for the back story) Hint: NOTHING ever works well where government is involved. Having worked at NASA twice I can honestly say there is more waste at that agency than at any other government entity with which I have been involved. It truly is a welfare program for college educated people. Talk about pouring money down a rathole.... And to all you folks who think science for the sake of science is a great and wonderful I say, form your own organization and privately fund space exploration.
