Obama highlights support for veterans, working women

Campaigning in New Mexico, a possible swing state in November, Obama highlighted his support and proposals for equal pay and economic security for working women. The Democrat has pledged to increase civil rights enforcement, raise the minimum wage, and push paid leave and flexible work schedules.

"When I hear women are being treated unfairly in the workplace, where there's injustice, and there's not the basic principle of equal pay for equal work, I get mad. I get frustrated," Obama told about two dozen working women gathered in Albuquerque's main library. "My daughters - I don't want them to ever confront a situation where they are disadvantaged because of their gender. The thought of it makes my blood boil. That's what we're fighting for."

Isn't it a welcome relief to hear a candidate talk about the issues that matter in people's lives?

Vets have lots to look forward to after Obama becomes President. The GI Bill is just a start on the appreciation you deserve from us. Check it out:

While your god-like-messiah Obama has vowed to make pay equity for woman a top priority if elected president, an analysis of his Senate Staff show that women are out numbered and out paid by men.

That is cntrast to John McCain's Senate office where women, for the most part, out-ranked and are paid more than men.(cnsnews).

And as far as the Veteran's go. I have not been able to find when Obama has even visited one VA outlet here in Chicago, can you help me out on that one. Because the VA hospital would be right off the interstate on his way home from Midway Airport, which he almost exclusively uses. So I am assuming he has been there many times, so he really can be in touch with their needs.

Maybe your real wages will go up the first time in over 16 years. Maybe benefits will be restored. Maybe national health care. Maybe no business welfare. Maybe your quality of life will improve once we start paying the bills the Republicans have run up to outrageous levels. Maybe Obama will use the same signing statements you Repubs are so proud of and change some things around in a different direction. Maybe the Repubs will rue the day they supported an imperial Presidency with unlimited powers. Maybe people like you will get a wake-up call.

McCain voted 12 times against veteran's benefits while drawing full untaxed benefits. That is support?!? Get a clue and get off the lying propaganda bandwagon ok?

Patting women on the ass and saying they need more education to make an equal wage - guess you need an MBA to get minimum wage at Mc's place, and kicking vets in the ass and telling them they aren't disabled enough for full disablity with three missing limbs - guess you need to be fully disabled (???) like John (???)to get all the benefits. But I guess heros get more don't they? How can a woman or a vet in their right mind vote for John McCain.

here he goes again with his promises to all people of "a chicken in every pot"! cal coolidge did that too and his results we are all aware of! america needs to wake up and realize tha a president has no ability to deliver on any promise!! that ability rests with the congress! always has always will! i take issue with the fact that he never promises with the approval of the congress! if he did that he would certainly have the ear of the country!!

Contrary to popular belief McCain's military voting record isn't real supportive of the military he claims to love. But does it really matter?

I have a really hard time believing that someone with missing limbs is not disabled enough for disability. I was injured and had back surgery when I was 24 and was diagnosed with 10% disability and could of went gotten disability payments for the rest of my life. However I had a doctor that said it would be easier not to go on disablity. I didn't and have worked productively all my life. So what you are saying is a complete fabrication of the situation.

He's running an election of course he will propose bright ideas in front of the VFW and the same for Obama, but McCain's voting record tells the real story trying looking it up and reading how many times he voted against things in favor of compensation for soldiers....you might be suprised.

McCain is doing nothing for women and he voted against any new GI bill. He's all talk and no action for these two groups.

Yes, it does matter because he's out there constantly saying how much he supports the troops! Obviously not enough to vote for anything of benefit for them. He did not vote for Webb's proposal.

You know that he did vote for the new GI Bill, I know it even though Mr. Bush gave McCain credit for supporting the bill when he knew McCain didn't have anything to do with it, but how many McCainites actually pay attention to that.
