This isn't really a surprise, but it is a confirmation. Joe Lieberman, the Democratic Party's VP candidate in 2000, now an Independent, has agreed to speak at the Republican National Convention, as noted in an update on the convention's website.

Joementum(I-Party of One) lost his seat because he spent years on TV reciting GOP talking points attacking the Dems. He just didn't have the guts to admit that he was a Republican. He was elected with the help of GOP supporters from NY, and Connecticut has a bad case of buyer's remorse.

His only appeal is to the Hagee/Cufi wing of the GOP.

CUFI has an ulterior agenda: its support for Israel derives from the belief of Hagee and his flock that Jesus will return to Jerusalem after the battle of Armageddon and cleanse the earth of evil. In the end, all the non-believers - Jews, Muslims, Hindus, mainline Christians, etc.- must convert or suffer the torture of eternal damnation. Over a dozen CUFI members eagerly revealed to me their excitement at the prospect of Armageddon occurring tomorrow. Among the rapture ready was Republican Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. None of this seemed to matter to Lieberman, who delivered a long sermon hailing Hagee as nothing less than a modern-day Moses. Lieberman went on to describe Hagee's flock as "even greater than the multitude Moses commanded."

Joe is a heck of a lot better than the space cadet Al Gore he ran with. Yes, he sounds like Elmer Fudd. Yes, he is not a “lock step” Democrat.. Yes, he is a lot better than Ted Kennedy’s “Mini Me”, Chris Dodd. Yes, I voted for him in the last election against the left wing nut, Ned Lamont. I don’t agree with much of his politics but in a group of politicians that vote by the poles only he is refreshing. McCain is despised by a lot of Republicans for the same reason many Democrats hate Joe. I want my Senator to vote for what he thinks is right. I may not agree with everything they do but at least I know he is honest and has ethics. This is a lot more than I can say about Dodd. I don’t understand why everyone is after Joe when Dodd is the biggest sleaze ball there is. His father was run out of town on a rail and he is next. As Connecticut can’t get one of its 3 Republican politicians to run (even they are “RINOs”), Joe will have to do. Congresswoman Tubbs Jones dies after aneurysm
Democratic U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, the first black woman to represent Ohio in Congress, was hospitalized Wednesday after suffering an aneurysm, her spokeswoman said.
Tubbs Jones, 58, had the aneurysm while driving her car in Cleveland Heights on Tuesday, spokeswoman Nicole Williams said. The congresswoman's condition has been stabilized at a hospital in East Cleveland, she said.
