A group of September 11 victims' families appealed to White House hopefuls John McCain and Barack Obama on Wednesday to suspend all campaigning on the anniversary of the 2001 attacks as a show of respect.

I agree that exploiting 9/11 as the GOP has done for the last several years is offensive and an insult to the families of those who lost their lives.

I will bet Obama doesn't stop campaigning for one day, but John McCain will stop for a day.

McSame has been exploiting his so-called service in Vietnam as a political point. What makes you think he'll stop using 9/11?

Excuse me but 911 is important. I know most Americans are more concerned about the sale at the mall and the new flavor of light beer coming out, but we MUST talk about the people who want to pull off another "9-11".

How a President will protect us is important and must be discussed. It is the liberals who don't want to discuss 9-11 because they get beaten up badly on this issue.

many seem to have forgotten 911 so what's the big deal about campaigning on that date? I think they should have a townhall meeting at ground zero!!

What, no John McCain hangin' out with his boy, Rudi Gilliani in NYC on 911, layin' some flowers at Ground Zero???

Deprive us of the pleasure of seeing the dead exploited again for Republican political gain?

How un-American is that???

Of course McCain will, as each day pass he is become a more typical politician....it kinda started when he ran 3 straight negative attack commercials. I found McCain's speech that his handlers gave him for this year 9/11..."My friends, on this day 7yrs ago our freedom was attacked.....we will win this war, I know how to win a war (even though is was a POW while all the fighting was going on) and Obama wants to retreat and surrender." Someone please save this post and play it back to me this sep 11th.

Oh, I can see it now:

Obama doesn't campaign, he simply goes to a church service, while McCain has a big tadoo on ground zero and calls Obama as unpatriotic, the Republicans jump on the idea and Fox News runs at the bottom of the screen "Obama hates America, loves Sept. 11".

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. But what can you do? All the Conservatives have are attacks and screaming about abortion/gay marriage. They know they're sunk, or they would be if people could look beyond this idiotic propaganda.

Liberals want to discuss how to avoid another 9-11 attack. What they don't want to discuss is invading countries who had nothing to do with 9-11

Conservatives want to use 9-11 as an excuse to punish those who dissed Bushh's daddy and to distract the voters from the high cost of the invasion - in lives and dollars, the dismal state of the economy, the eroding of the middle class, the disinegration of the U.S.'s infrastructure, and anything else they don't want to think about.

Besides changing his mind every 30 seconds, what has Obama ever done?
If you don't agree with McCain ok, but respect him as an individual, and he should be proud of his service is shows character and loyalty, things you won't find in Obama.

McCain is a paper tiger. Do a little research. With respect to agreeing with him, his only position that I'm aware of is his wanting us to keep fighting in Iraq forever.

Obama has a very commendable history. I'm willing to bet you never tried to look at it. I know it's easier to just spout the party line baloney, which is directed at the brain dead. If you're not one of them start thinking for yourself.

5 points in a Zogby poll for McCain.

Good luck in November. The Dems are going to need it, because Obama is losing support fast.
