GOP platform backs off Arctic oil to help McCain

Republicans are putting John McCain's presidential prospects above their wish to drill for oil in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Members of the GOP platform committee voted Wednesday to stick with an energy plank that doesn't mention drilling in the refuge, saying it would only highlight an area where they differ with the Arizona senator. McCain opposes drilling in that protected land, and some committee members said they would rather bring him around on the issue once he's in the White House than widen their disagreement now.

These Guys are Morons, and the reason the Republicans lost BOTH Hoses of Congress the last election.

I will say it here and now. I was a republican, Instead of voting against them as a way to show them I was mad at the Party, I Instead Registered Conservative and will ONLY Vote that Line from now on, which in My Last Election here, I Voted for a Democrat who was on that line and to let them know, This Democrat Won by a Bigger Margin than the other Candidates Running because they not only got the Democrat Vote, they got The Conservative Vote and the Conservative Republican Vote!
Go ahead and continue this RHINO Policy and you will see MORE Votes Dissapear!

Obama & Obiden, two self-serving democRat saboteurs unqualified to lead...

• DemocRat Barack Obama, Jul. 2007: "My assessment is that the surge has not worked."

• DemocRat Joe Biden, Sep. 2007: "We should stop the surge and start bringing our troops home...[When asked whether Iraq closer to political reconciliation than before the surge began, and would continuing the operation stop the killing between Sunnis, Shi'ites and Kurds?]...The answer to both those questions is no."

• DemocRat Barack Obama, Oct. 2007: "[The surge is a] complete failure... Iraq’s leaders are not reconciling. They are not achieving political benchmarks."

• DemocRat Joe Biden, Nov. 2007: "This whole notion that the surge is working is fantasy."

• DemocRat Joe Biden, Apr. 2008: "The purpose of the surge was to bring violence in Iraq down so that its leaders could come together politically. Violence has come down, but the Iraqis have not come together... We DemocRats understand that this war must end..."

Jimmy, part of the problem with nukes is the same as with offshore drilling... it takes YEARS to build and start producing.

And nukes are HORRIBLY EXPENSIVE. And who pays for that? You do, every time you flip on a light switch. And then, what do you do with the nuclear waste that no one wants, and will still be deadly 10,000 years from now? If we could solve those BIG problems, I would like nuclear, because it does not pollute, and does not contribute to climate change.

OIL on the other hand is a big problem, we sent 70% of our oil money overseas, mostly to countries that don't like us much, and a lot of it has for sure ended up funding terrorists. Even if we drilled every last drop, where do we refine it? Alaskan crude goes to JAPAN. And it contributes heavily to global warming, which seems real, and terribly frightening. We MUST have alternative energy sources, or our grandchildren will live in a very very frightening world.

Off shore drilling won't help. We won't see that make any difference for about 10 years.

The oil industry is making obscenely large profits. Therefore one way we could have lower prices would be if their execs decided to lower the prices and accept lower profits, since given the large margin they obviously could affoard to do that. But of course they'll always charge the public instead of accepting a little less (but still wealthy) amounts of money.

So the RNC isn't running McCain?

I thought the partisan bubbleheads claimed that RNC was really in control of McCain?

Seems the other way around, eh?

GOP platform committee is right compromise on few minor issues in order to go together with McCain as united and strong party aiming at defeating the delusional liberal Barack Obama and the Dems.
It is all about drilling for oil, natural gas, oil shale, coal and tar all over US continental and waters that is rich in abundant energy resources that were put on embargo by the anti-American liberals in their support of the US worst enemies including the oil rich radical Islamic regimes and the Russian and Venezuela socialistic regimes.
More than 75% of the American people demand drilling for US energy independence and they hate the tricks of Pelosi and Reid that aim at paralyzing US Congress and making it dysfunctional.
The American people support McCain energy policy and blame the Dems and especially Bill Clinton for US oil dependency on Islamic terrorists’ regimes.

Where specifically is the lie? Obviously, John McCain is much more sensible over drilling ANWR than the stick in the mud ersatz messiah Barack Obama. And, it makes no sense to make it an issue being as it's been tried and failed when congressional self-serving lowlife democRats left for vacation all while Americans have to pay $2.00 more per gallon of gas thanks to demented scumbags like you made them a majority...pathetic.

You are wrong. Natural gas is available now in 2008 as fuel for our cars with minor adjustment kit that cost less than $100.
Using natural gas by US cars can start in 2008-9 but it is only waiting for grandma Pelosi to be available for the needs of the American people and stop paralyzing US Congress intentionally.
Gasoline and diesel can be made easily from oil, oil shale, natural gas, coal, and tar with known technology starting within one year or two, cutting gasoline price to less than $2/ gallon.
Liberals are lying about the availability of oil because they insist on sending 700 billion dollars annually to The Russian regime of Putin for their attack on Georgia and to radical Islamic oil rich regimes that use the money for the Islamic terrorists’ attacks on US troops.

BTW, What's this "my friends" BS? Perhaps you should give the Rat Convention a rest.
