Why some conservatives are backing Obama

Barack Obama used to joke about - Republican apostates who whispered their support for his candidacy - have morphed into a new phenomenon, or syndrome, as detractors like to call it: the Obamacons.

We should take (McCain) at his word: his commitment to continuing the most disastrous of President Bush's misadventures is irrevocable.... He is the candidate of the War Party. The election of John McCain would provide a new lease on life to American militarism, while perpetuating the U.S. penchant for global interventionism marketed under the guise of liberation."

The above quote from the article says it all. Some pundits don't like the word "warmongering" but it is appropriate.

Conservatives don't even recognize the Republican party anymore. Watching the Bush Republicans put the U.S. into debt an additional $1 TRILLION during the past 8 years, while making the federal government bigger and bigger, plus starting a senseless, unwinnable war, must be making the conservatives sick to their stomachs.

McCain's going to endure the biggest defeat since Alf Landon !

Given McCain's embrace of the disasterous Bush policies, it may turn out Obama's administration proves to be the more fiscally conservative of the two. Empire building is expensive, too expensive given the return these days. Bombing for oil, er, I mean democracy is utter folly. That would be how the crossover conservatives end up in the Obama camp or at the very least stay home on election day.

there's as much truth to this story as there was to the newsweek bullshit poll that had obama ahead by 15 points.
none. it is ALL liberal spin...
the conservatives will vote for mccain (they may hold their nose while they do, but, they will vote for him)...
as for aging hippies ridiculous assertion that obama will be more fiscally responsible...with the list of government backed programs he has called for, his tab will run around $3 trillion MORE than we spend now...mccain's,$500 billion LESS than we're spending now.
put down the pipe, moonbeam, it's WAY too early to get buzzed.

Unlike humans, not all wars are created equal. Our nation was built on a risky rebellion that no one knew in advance would succeed since nothing like it had been tried before. That would be how all things evolve including humans, their nations and the kind of war they wage. Good to see the majority of the world, including the majority of this nation paying attention to that even if it seems you aren't.

What other choices do voters have? This nation can not possibly survive 4 more years of Republican rule..we not make it to January with the current Bafoon in office. With Hillary Clinton we as a nation had at least a chance at bringing back some sort of government by the people for the people..not government by the government for the government and the rich. Obama needs to just shut up and listen to those that are wiser than he is and work by consensus to achieve the common goals and interest of the american people. McCain represents the policies that have put this nation in dire straights...who wants to continue down a path of economic distruction and a social cast system that continues to devide the citizens of this once great nation. We continue to elect people that do not have the american people's interest as the top of their agenda...all of the american people ..not just the special interest. we need another FDR...!

Why should we believe your math's bottomline when you don't show how you add it up? McCain is the one who doesn't connect the dots about how to pay for his economic and war proposals--- which is understandable considering he admitted he doesn't understand economics. We can all observe that you're the one calling for a double here when I don't smoke a thing, let alone a pipe. LOL And here's a timely reminder! What either candidate wants will be mitigated by the process of Congress. Given that, history shows a Democratic President with a Democratic Congress (likely given the down ballot power showing up) spends LESS than average. Look it up. You are entitled to your own opinion but you are not entitled to your own facts.

Who said anyone believed in smiling their way to peace? I learned in aikido that the best fight is no fight at all. They can always claim they were bluffing and make you look the paranoid bully (which they did, btw). I prefer to duck when they strike and then invite the world to join me in sanctioning them on many many levels for attempting to cause inappropriate harm. Moral high ground is part of being effective and effectiveness is determined by numbers. I like to win (points to North Korea).

From the Boardroom of Arthur Jensen on the freemarket.

Jensen: You have meddled with the primal forces of nature, Mr. Beale, and I won't have it!! Is that clear?! You think you've merely stopped a business deal. That is not the case. The Arabs have taken billions of dollars out of this country, and now they must put it back! It is ebb and flow, tidal gravity! It is ecological balance!

You are an old man who thinks in terms of nations and peoples. There are no nations. There are no peoples. There are no Russians. There are no Arabs. There are no third worlds. There is no West. There is only one holistic system of systems, one vast and immense, interwoven, interacting, multivariate, multinational dominion of dollars. Petrol-dollars, electro-dollars, multi-dollars, Reich marks, rins, rubles, pounds, and shekels.

It is the international system of currency which determines the totality of life on this planet. That is the natural order of things today. That is the atomic and subatomic and galactic structure of things today! And YOU have meddled with the primal forces of nature, and YOU WILL ATONE!
Am I getting through to you, Mr. Beale?

You get up on your little twenty-one inch screen and howl about America and democracy. There is no America. There is no democracy. There is only IBM and ITT and AT&T and DuPont, Dow, Union Carbide, and Exxon. Those are the nations of the world today.
What do you think the Russians talk about in their councils of state -- Karl Marx? They get out their linear programming charts, statistical decision theories, minim ax solutions, and compute the price-cost probabilities of their transactions and investments, just like we do.

We no longer live in a world of nations and ideologies, Mr. Beale. The world is a college of corporations, inexorably determined by the immutable bylaws of business. The world is a business, Mr. Beale. It has been since man crawled out of the slime. And our children will live, Mr. Beale, to see that perfect world in which there's no war or famine, oppression or brutality -- one vast and ecumenical holding company, for whom all men will work to serve a common profit, in which all men will hold a share of stock, all necessities provided, all anxieties tranquilized, all boredom amused.

This conservative isn't backing Obama! Choices are limited but I'll vote for McCain before I'll ever vote for Obama. I can't vote for a man/wife that hate their country. I'll cling to my guns and religion before I'll ever cast a vote for Obama....

Anyone who backs Obama is not and I repeat, not a conservative. Conservatives know this.
The uppity Obamaites assume we are a bunch of yahoos sitting on a porch clinging to guns and Bibles...Therefore they think they can sell us anything including something someone forgot to flush...an Obamanation.

Obama & Obama are nothing more than a couple of two-bit sht-house lawyers representing uppity euro-socialist contributors. It's like lawyers representing Jeffery Dalmer but instead of representing a demented cannibal the Obamas are representing those who will cannibalize The United States Of America.

In fact, FDR would round up every one of you gutless cut and run Rats and charge you with treason.
Pathetic snot-nosed jerks like you want to lay this country at the feet of euro-socialists via an Obamanation...You are as ignorant as your attempt to spell, "buffoon" you buffoon.
