1 Arizona Donors Give McCain Cold Shoulder Many Big Time Bundlers in Likely GOP Nominee's Home State Haven't Taken Up Their Senator's Cause PHOENIX--Sen. John McCain's Arizona campaign chairman, fellow Republican Sen. Jon Kyl, is missing from McCain's list of 26 Arizona bundlers who have raised $50,000 or more in contributions for his presidential campaign. Kyl, the Senate minority whip, bundled more than $100,000 of campaign contributions for President George W. Bush in 2004. Kyl frequently appears at campaign events as a McCain stand-in and the two are close friends. Kyl, a hard-line conservative, supported the presumed Republican presidential candidate on comprehensive immigration reform, but splits with McCain on some major issues -- including energy policy, campaign-finance reform and climate change. Kyl is one of a group of leading Arizona Republican fund-raisers more active in raising money for Bush than they have, to date, for McCain.... Leading GOP state elected officials and some key state party activists are giving far less financial support to the party's national candidate this election cycle than in 2000 and 2004 -- though their favorite son is the likely nominee. Bush was considered more acceptable on issues the conservative GOP base cares about, with his anti-tax, pro-business agenda and his willingness to move religion into the center of the political mix .Bush only had six bundlers in Arizona for his 2000 and 2004 campaign, but they raised more than $3 million in his reelection bid. One of those bundlers is Joyce Haver, a prominent Phoenix business leader, who raised more than $100,000 for Bush in 2000 and 2004. Haver has not geared up her fund-raising operation for McCain...P. Robert Fannin, a well-known Phoenix attorney and civic leader, raised more than $200,000 for Bush in 2004, but is not included in McCain's list of major bundlers with more than $50,000....another notable figure missing from McCain’s list is the Arizona state Republican Party Chairman Randy Pullen.... the better part of the state's GOP political leadership is not listed as McCain bundlers for any amount, including former Arizona Gov. Jane Dee Hull, who bore the brunt of McCain's infamous temper on several occasions, and Reps. Trent Franks, John Shadegg and Jeff Flake. One elected official, Rep. Rick Renzi, had been McCain’s Arizona co-campaign chairman, but resigned after he was indicted earlier this year on corruption charges.... http://washingtonindependent.com/view/arizona... Maybe they're all afraid of scrutiny. Anyway, bottom line is that the GOP party organizations are getting some corporate PAC money, but McCain brought in $22Million in donations last month, compared to Obama's $55Million. Obama's average donation last month was $68. Since Obama became the nominee, the DNC no longer accepts PAC or lobyist donations. The GOP scarfs them up. |

3 Apples and oranges, jj. The subject addressed is the candidate's individual fundraising. The party fundraising isn't mentioned. I see you're still confusing me with your wife. |

4 Once again outing yourself as a racist. Funny how you call others liars while you pretend to be a Hillary supporter. No real Hillary supporter would ever act like you do and say so many ugly and mean-spirited things. Your hate and vitriol expose what you really are: An "Operation Chaos" Rush Limbaugh fanatical hatemonger. Larry, Independent TX voter |

1 My only question, as you call Obama "unqualified," is if you think President Bust has been better. How did his "qualifications" help him during his presidency. His may go down in history as the WORST presidency ever. As an intelligent American, I realize that it's not about the candidate. It's about the qualifications of the people around the President. Sure the buck stops with the President. But compared to the guy that's in office now, who doesn't listen to the staff around him, I have more confidence that Obama will staff himself with a better team than McCain. McCain has already staffed himself with people like Gramm who doesn't care a flip about the people. Plus, he has vowed to continue the policies and practices of Bust. I may not have experience, but I'm smart enough to know that he's not proposing policies that are going to help us. |
