Analysis: Could Clinton land the VP nomination?

Friends and close associates of both Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are now convinced that, assuming she loses the race for the presidential nomination, she is probably going to fight to be the vice presidential nominee on an Obama-for-president ticket.

Obama camp: Clinton not looking for a deal
...Axelrod ...also denied rumors that the Clinton camp may be in some kind of discussions with the Obama camp to make her his running mate. "There's been no discussion about vice presidential nominees and this whole scenario," Axelrod said. Video Watch the latest on talks of a joint ticket »

Axelrod also denied reports that Obama's wife, Michelle, wants nothing to do with the Clintons, presenting a potential obstacle to what some have called a "dream ticket."

"That's false," he said, emphasizing that there have not been "any overtures" about a possible Clinton-Obama ticket.

Also on "Fox News Sunday," Clinton's top strategist, Howard Wolfson, said that "We think Sen. Clinton is going to be the nominee," and that he has "seen no evidence of her interest" in the No. 2 slot.

"This isn't about debt retirement or about the veep," he said.

Any ticket with the name "Obama" on it is going to lose. Hillary is smart enough to know that.

I am not a fan of Obama, but he needs to look at the list of (ahem) "accidental" deaths that have occurred around the Clintons.
Hillary as VP would shorten anybodys life

I wonder if Hillary Clinton is the one that make and change rules for the Democratics party whenever she wants. Now Hillary Cliton state that if the Democratics party has the rules that the Republicans have she would be the nominee long time ego. I suggest that Hillary go run as a Republican candidate if she wants their rules. Rules are rules; Florida and Michigan had mess up their chances to have their delegates sit and I believe that it not to Hillary's power to tell the DNC how to sit them delegates. These delegates from these two state should not be seated at all. The Democratics party is losing its standard by seating Florida and Michigan and in the future any state could just say well I am doing my primary in such and such date because Florida and Michigan did it and they get away with it. Obama needs to be careful with any proposal from Hillary Clinton.

I hope he is not stupid enough to pick Hillary as his VP. He can not be that stupid. I am tired of having a stupid president in power making stupid decision after stupid decision for the last 8 years. Surely this country of three hundred million can find a president that will not make all stupid decisions. I thought I heard Chuck Hagel the Republican of Nebraska as a choice. There is a guy and I can not stand the Republicans after what they are doing to our country, but in Hagel you get a guy that puts his country first ahead of his political affiliation. Barrack who I think will be the next pres. if the repubs or big oil do not kill him which is probably at least a twenty percent chance they will considering how they do business. But Hillary is extreme liberal and so is Barrack. I do not think it would do well to put two liberals on ticket. Besides people just hate Hillary. Barrack may have a little trouble because he is black but I think people are so tired of Bush and I think at least ten percent of the country see him as a war criminal. It is starting to not be that extreme of a view any more. To vot Republican keeps too many of the same people in power. With the exception of a Chuch Hagel or Ron Paul. Obama should pick a republican like one of those two or an extremely conservative democrat. Someone who will put his country ahead of politics and his party. Hillary is pure politics with no integrity. I will be so upset if he is so stupid he picks her.

ok, all Americans, please listen to what I have to say about this, irrespective of whethere you are a democrat, independent, or republican, whether you are a hillary supporter or Obama supporter, please think about the following:
Hillary has repeated loaned herself money, and one can imagine what she will do if she's the president, the first thing she'll do is, use our money (the federal money) to pay off all her debts. If she's truly willing to spend her own money, why not use those $109 million they made in the last 7 years, they take a loan hoping that if they win, they can pay off that using the federal money. I know some Hillary supporters will disagree with me, but please think about it for urself. Analyze carefully before you vote. I feel sad for those senior citizens & voters without college degree, a majority of them support her but she'll do nothing for u. I am an independent, and after making careful analysis, and research of every candidate's plans. I prefer Obama. McCain is just 3rd term of Bush clearly. Obama is our only hope for real change in American policy, that will help American workers, and bring jobs to AMerica

Hillary does not know how to give up. She's done! She needs to give up. The Supers are breaking in droves towards Obama and according to rcp, he's beating her in that now as well as states won, pledged delegates, and the popular vote.
She wants to loan more money to her campaign saysit all. She can't raise the money she needs.

Just consider two headaches for the price of one, where ever Hillary goes, so does Bill Clinton. It is my opinion when Obama speaks of the old way that needs to change, I think the Clintons are a perfect example of the old way, and when you consider for almost the past 20 years there has been either a Bush or a Clinton in office, it would be great to start the next 2 to 4 terms without either, and see if there is a change.

if obama has a death wish he will pick clinton as vp. clinton probably thinks that something will happen to obama if he is elected. if she is a heartbeat away this is her best and only chance to be elected president. or if fate does not get rid of obama, she may have plans herself to hasten his demise. i hope not but she has shown she will s top at nothing and continue to run until the bitter end. there fore I PUT NOTHING BEYOND HER THAT SHE IS WILLING TO GO TO BE PRESIDENT EVEN WHAT HAPPENED TO JFK WHICH LBJ DEFINITELY HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH ALTHOUGH HISTORY WILL NEVER PROVE IT.

Beautifully stated. The Democratic Party agrees with you. And so do most Democrats. Hillary Clinton is as welcome in the Democratic Party as a bad rash. Thanks for contributing!

I believe that Barack is smart enough to make the right choice from a solid list of candidates.

He was smart enough to beat Mrs. Clinton, who was the presumptive nominee a year ago.

Casey, Strickland, Richardson and yes even Clinton are possible choices...

If she cleans her act up.

Remember folks, right now, people are still caught up in the emotion of a drawn out battle. There are hard feelings on both sides.

Once Barack has the magic number of delegates, which is not too far off, cooler heads will prevail and some healing will occur.

You got that right. Another dead person around the Clintons doesn't mean much to them. Or their AIPAC supporters.

Hussein Obama will never get to the White House without Hillary. All the Hillary supporters will vote for McCain to spite Hussein. So, it is either Hillary or back to Illiois for him.

Clinton wouldn't be my VP. That's for sure. I saw a list of so-called accidental deaths and suicides directly connected with the Clintons and their financial and political problems-- it was on the internet. With her being second in line and desperately trying to claw her way to the Presidency- No Way. It's just common sense.
