Candidates question Petraeus, Crocker; top general asks open-ended pause in troop reductions

White House hopefuls Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain were questioning the two men who are the face of the U.S.-led Iraq war at high-profile congressional hearings Tuesday as the unpopular conflict takes center stage in the tight U.S. presidential race. The three candidates sit on committees in the upper

This congress going after Gen. Petraeus is like a Chihuahua chasing a Mack truck. For Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to do so is even more rediculous.

We could stay in Iraq FOREVER, less ONE day .... and the next day they'll be fighting each other again. What's the point?? It's a civil war and OUTSIDE countries are providing the weapons.

You need to really dig into Petraeus' background. Once you do, you find that he's a paper soldier who has had a lot of vacation assignments and has gotten a pretty good education courtesy of the US taxpayer. His background is that of a military secretary and he's risen to his current status claiming the accomplishments of others as his own.
His future is directly tied to our involvement in this illegal occupation. He's being paid to continue the loss of life and resources. When asked, the current resident of the White House had no answer for us so maybe we should aske this guy:

In opening remarks before the Armed Services panel, Petraeus said he would recommend to U.S. President George W. Bush that that the current drawdown of troops be put on hold for 45 days after July, when the so-called «surge» force is to have left the country. He refused to commit to a date for restarting the withdrawal.

That would make it mid September before he would have to refuse to commit to a date for restarting the withdrawal again.

General Petraeus is one of greatest US generals at time of critical war to US, the stability of the Middle East and the security and economy of the entire world.
Petraeus said today that there was a significant achievement of our brave US troops that defeated al Qaida and the Iranian regime’s Islamic terrorist.
Nevertheless, early withdrawal of US forces will cause the achievements of our US troops to be reversed and be gone.
It is a slow process in which our brave US troops and Iraqi troops are taking over cities all over Iraq and disarming the Islamic terrorists. However, the Iranian regime keeps his bold intervention in Iraq by providing new IEDs and EFPs roadside bombs, missiles and mortars to its Mehdi Army Islamic terrorists and Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Iraq.
It is the war of the civilized world led by US against radical Islamic terrorists that are financed and armed by Saudi Arabia King Abdullah and by the Iranian and Syrian regimes.
US troops and Iraqi troops prevent on a daily basis the taking over of cities like Basra by the Iranian regime's Islamic terrorists or Mosul by al Qaida Islamic terrorists.
Clearly, few hours after Hillary could become the most incompetent loser commander in chief in US history, she would order the withdrawal of US troops from Iraqi cities, leading to the large Iraqi cities to fall in the hands of Iranian regime commanded Islamic terrorists and al Qaida Islamic terrorists.
US troop’s withdrawal will lead to the fall of the government of PM Maliki within 24 hours and to Iranian regime control of most of Iraq with partial control by the al Qaida Islamic terrorists on the other portion of Iraq and its oil fields within less than 36 hours of US 'taking off'.

If that's the case, why haven't we just taken it, so we aren't paying $3.25 + at the pump and outlandish heating bills.

WHO is going to stop us? The Iranians with their row boat Navy or Chavez and his airline Air Force.

I really don't know why Obama or Clinton would attend a conferenece with the General and the Ambassador? They already have a preconcieved notion of what they envision for Iraq regardless of what anybody says. Both have already played their hand. Both have said they are going to pull troops from Iraq. Both candidates however are going to leave enough troops in Iraq to counter AQ. Which really says maintain the status quo.
they just left themselves a loophole.

I feel sorry for any Military personnel to have to stand in front of Hillary and Obama and possibly have my expertise and experience questioned by two vote monger's.

Instead of telling me whose fault it is and finger point and blame, how about sit down shut-up and work together to fix it.

Of course blaming and fingerpointing is what most of my fellow American's are only good at.

I didn't hear any of this whining and moaning when we went in to Iraq, of course I wasn't here. I was in Iraq at the time.

I think the terrorist know us more than we know ourselves. They know that the American public doesn't have the stomach for a long protracted conflict. Kinda takes us out of our comfort zone.

I'll bet that the General and his boys will be the prettiest thing your eyes ever seen on when they come to rescue you along with Hillary and Obama when we get hit again.
