Obama: Had Wright not retired, I'd have left church

Sen. Barack Obama says in an interview scheduled to air on TV Friday that he would have left his church if his pastor had not retired and had not acknowledged making comments that "deeply offended people."

So it took 20 years to decide that he would have left the church, as president he will not have 20 years to make a decision.

I think it was appropriate for the church to retire Dr. Wright. His views are not only those of the past but some are over the line. Had the hit piece that ABC News been anything other than tabloid style fodder designed for rating and ad revenue, they would have included that the paster was already retired, the official church view is more moderate and they definately would have researched and found the pastor's outrageous views were not reflected in any of Obama's. It is worth noticing how long it took and from whom it was learned what Paul Harvey would call the rest of the story. Shame on ABC News. Makes some of us who know Disney well wonder if the mouse is a racist. Wouldn't that be an even bigger shame?

You seriously lack context here. Given how much a church is like family and there is much more to a relationship with one of its ministers that by its very nature is spiritual and not political --- hasty it would be. Those now dying out churches of Falwellian lockstepped thinking that demand faith and politics be sold as one unit or those who don't know what a relationship with any minister is like would see this as not swift enough. I wonder, which are you?

I think he counts on people understanding the complexities of his relationship with his former pastor. Better to see us as smart and win than see us as dumb and lose. That could be why he gets the educated voters too.

I am sure that you have some relatives who have some very questionable sentiments about people of other cultures and ethnicities. I am wondering if you have turned away from ALL of them? Hell I am even wondering if you join in sometimes to their diatribes. This is just more political spin.

Obama is an American like every other one, including McCain and Clinton. We all have many conflicting realities. For instance, George Bush is a great example of conflicting realities... Someone who people say they could have a beer with, but is probably the dumbest president in the history of the position. I don't need to be able to have a beer with the president if the means that I am drinking with a fool! You see?? Just another paradox.

Obama.s Minister just retired last month and that is because the IRS is investigating Jeremiah Wright's Church for Tax-exempt violations.
The main Congregation branch of Trinity Church is also being investigated because last June Barack Obama gave a Political speech at their convention to ten thousand people in attendence. So not only is Wrights Church in trouble with the IRS but the main head of his Churck is in trouble with the IRS.
Obama and his Minister are succeeding in covering this up. I am surprised the News Media's have not picked up on this yet why Wright 'quickly retired' and is now said to be in Africa.
lol Just when I think you guys on the funny farm will exhaust the good lies, here comes a fresh batch. I have to say this is not nearly as good as the one that claims Obama's twenty year church membership is proof how determined he is to cover up his Muslim faith. Passes around the roll of tinfoil to you all. lol

Obama is telling more lies to get elected. The man cares nothing for the United States of America. He will do and say anything to get elected. Hopefully the Bible Code will be true where this demon is concerned.

Good news for Obama and McCain, not so good for Clinton. A detailed analysis of the latest polling shows that Obama has recovered from the Wright drama while Hillary's numbers took a hit just before the Bosnia embaressment hit.

http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3...

you know that quote of Wright talking about 9/11 saying "America's chicken's come home to roost" ?

Turns out it was a lie by Fox News.

according to CNN’s Roland Martin:
http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/03/21/the-ful...

"He was actually quoting Edward Peck, former U.S. Ambassador to Iraq and deputy director of President Reagan ’ s terrorism task force, who was speaking on FOX News."

Oh like George Bush who has had 7 years to realize that Iraq was a mistake, but continues to believe that we are on the right road? Or like McCain who is willing to stay 100 more years in the country?

Oh and Hilary Clinton won't do anything to get elected? She would take the party down with her if it meant she could get this nomination. She cares nothing for anyone but herself. Her act has got you fooled but not me!

I believe that if she wins the presidential election, she would be grateful to everyone who helped her, including Bill. I believe that she would give him the run of the white house to do every young female page or assistant he could get his hands on. She doesn't want him anyway. Which one is worse the "demon" or Jezebel herself.

"I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction". Barack Obama wrote in his book.
This actual quote from Barack Obama's book, Audacity of Hope, and is on page 261.
Do yourself a favor and read his books. He's telling you in his own words about his animosity toward the White Race and his love of Islam.
Barack Obama is now what Islamic law calls a murtadd (apostate).
Barack Obama is A Muslim, First, Last, and always.
Typical, take a snippet out of context and using it to smear a political opponent. I see you've been watching Hannity and O'Really.

What is the rest of that quote? Which 'Muslims" was he talking about?

Are all Muslims evil in your opinion and therefore not worth defending?

I remember just after 9/11, I was in the local supermarket. There was a family of Sikhs, kids in tow, just trying to do their shopping...not Muslims, Sikhs.(you know there's a difference, right?)
You should have seen the looks they were getting. They did. They looked terrified.

I also remember the Iranian hostage crisis of the 1970's and a friend of mine who is brown skinned (a US citizen born in S America) He was walking past a group of people who were demonstrating in support of the American hostages.
One woman carrying a sign walked right up to him and asked accusingly, "are you and Iranian?!" {Sure lady, there were lots and lots of Iranian agents roaming the streets of New Hampshire in the 1970's.}

If the political winds shift in an ugly direction,(if) Muslims, Siks, Hindus and anyone who doesn't look quite right, is going to need someone to stand with them.

Good for Obama!
