Aaron Ball scored two touchdowns and James Pitts had a 65-yard interception return for a score as Villanova held off Towson 34-31 on Saturday.

Christopher Whitney threw for 212 yards and a touchdown for Villanova (8-2, 6-1 Colonial Athletic Association), which ran out the last five minutes of the game after Towson pulled close in the fourth.

Sean Schaefer threw for 326 yards and four touchdowns _ two to Marcus Lee _ for Towson (3-8, 1-6).

The two teams traded scores through the first half, with the Wildcats taking a 20-17 lead into the break on Pitts' interception return with 12 seconds left in the second quarter.
