Felony's allow the Police to increase budgets and boost funding. This incident probably doesn't warrant a felony. The guy is in college and probably was horsing around. Most felony charges are dropped by the DA because they don't warrant prosecution. Overzealous Police.

Gee, doesn't UCF need to improve its football program a little before they can excuse this type of behavior?

You have no idea at all what you are talking about. Tampering with a fire device is a felony, look it up. Regardless, charges have no bearing on a budget, you are an idiot who is seeking to bash the police for doing their jobs. Probably been on the wrong side of the bars a few times, huh?

Meanwhile you have a program to the west known as University of South Florida where players routinely are charge with possession of drugs, grand theft, not paying child support, you name it. I promise you Ricky will pay a much bigger penalty on the football team than a USF player who say, stole an automobile would.

Felony, WTF does the police want everyone to be a felon?

This is criminal misdeamnor craziness at best.

Do the police realize that many times you cannot get any kind of job WHATSOEVER if you have even beeb charged but NOT CONVICTED.

Better hope Im not on the jury because I would refuse to prosecute anyone I felt the police had overcharged. I do agree however some action should be taken against him for this action!

Police do not create statutes, they simply review the elements of the offense and type in the statute that applies.

Contact your local congressmen to change the statutes.

Now if only he was working in a bar as a bartender and selling drinks to under aged kids. That would land him on the all big east team.

Jay, you don't justify bad behavior by pointing to other bad behavior. Although the issues at USF are much worse, it still doesn't excuse Ricky's behavior. We have to be responsible for the action of our players and lead by example.

Yeah right, you should work for a political office. The more arrests and charges in a district, the more money law enforcement can ask for. Wake up. Plus charging a college kid a felony for making a mistake? Throw him in jail for a night and charge him with something reasonable so his life isn't ruined. By the end of the day though, the DA will drop Felony - 99% that will be the case so why charge him in the first place - It's about more FUNDING.

Thank God there is more than one level between the policeman and the court room. Yes, he might as well drop out of college and do something else now.

If that really correct how come the police chief in Ocoee can take other peoples narcotics while on the job and not be charged with felony drug possession.

Your analysis is not correct, the police charge people or dont charge them based on a variety of circumstances.

I want people charged with what they are guilty of not some kind of "subjective" felony.

Jesus Christ, this is a young mans life, not some amusement for the police and a mess for the courts.

Better not have me on the jury on any BS charges they are getting let loose!8124

You don't know anything about this player or the circumstances behind what happened. He's a good kid that made a wrong choice. He also happens to be a good student. His GPA is around 3.0. By the way, it's harder to make it as a starter being a TRUE FRESHMAN "walk on" you idiot!

I thought you were gonna beat us last year. 64-12. UCF is the least of our worries. Good luck in your crappy conference.
