Va. Commonwealth beats The Citadel 82-59

T.J. Gwynn came off the bench to score 20 points as Virginia Commonwealth opened its season with an 82-59 win over The Citadel Sunday in the Cancun Challenge.

Gwynn hit all eight of his field-goal attempts.

After the Bulldogs (1-1) ran off the first six points of the game, VCU scored 14 straight, six by Gwynn. The Rams led by as many as 17 points after Brandon Rozzells 3-pointer pushed the margin to 42-25 with 39.5 seconds left in the first half.

The Rams extended the margin to 26 points in the second half, maintaining a double-digit lead the entire period.
