Its nice that Texas is finally playing UTEP. I would have liked to see them play in basketball especially during UTEP's better years.

I certainly don't worship the University of Texas in fact I don't even respect them. Do you root for the NY Yankees? Well its the same issue. Texas, Ohio State, and Florida are by far the biggest spenders on football. Money talks in the same way the NY Yankees are contenders most years. Do you know why the sportswriters aren't allowed to vote in the BCS rankings anymore? It was because of abuse by Texas who by harassing 3 AP writers into changing their vote, leapfrogging an idle Texas by a Cal team who won. I interviewed 2 of the 3 who admitted what Mack Brown did was totally wrong.

Frankly I much prefer a team like Cal (University of California Berkeley) where college means education and academic rankings count more than sports.

I completely agree with you.

On a different note, I wonder how many "fans" will be lined up to watch them in say, the 7th or 8th game of the year when they have a losing record? Not that this is a certainty, but it is typical El Paso. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more powerhouses play here -- even in there's a whuppin' in store. At least we don't have to watch the likes of SMU or East Carolina. Bring on Texas, Tech, Cal, Kansas, or any other big name school.

Note to you REAL Miner fans: show up for ALL the games and don't pull the same stunts you do every year and have 15,000 in the stadium for the finale.

Um, respectfully, the stadium hasn't seen less than 35K in the past 4 years. Please check your facts. I'm not talking about paid tickets, I'm talking about actual attendance. If you want to go by tickets that were purchased, the number is higher.

Maybe so, but when I can hear someone fart from across the stadium......

What they need to do is have the Cowboys come to play UTEP. At least it would be a close game and the bars on Mesa would have to wait for four quarters for the "fans" to pour in.....

I learned one of two things today. 1) How many losers there were in El Paso to stand in line for UTEP tickets or 2)How many people support TEXAS in El Paso wanting to watch a real schooling on playing football.

Now there is a game! It would be like watching a tennis match on a 100 yard field betwee the 45s... I'd pay some serious money to see 1) Romo cry on the field, 2)The cops carry off another UTEP player to jail, and last but not least 3) Jessica Simpson in person.

Even if UTEP gets a beating they are playing a really popular and good school. They should at least get credit for going out and trying. This is our city we should be out there encouraging everyone. :)

"Why so many people waited in line to get tickets" you may ask? Do a search on EBAY for UTEP Tickets and you will see.

I just checked eBay. You're right. Ha! Who would pay these inflated prices to see an azz-whuppin'? Prediction: 54-7 Texas (that 7 points will be put up on Texas' 4th string defense).

Uh, the Cowboys came like 10 years ago. Just like a fool to bring that up. UTEP has one of the highest attendances in the country, look it up! Some of you need to chill.

You don't need to note anything to the REAL fans. We're the solid group of 35k that are there every game.

Where do you think all UTEP's graduates end up? Here. Who would be the only people to buy tickets? UTEP losers. What school has the highest attendance of pervious students in its crowd? UTEP, noone ever learns anything useful there and gets a real job anyplace else in the world.(and for all you haters, every success story out of UTEP attended another school before "making it").
