Knights trying to forget embarrassing loss to UTEP

The loss still stings, but the UCF football team has shifted its focus to SMU. The Knights face the equally struggling Mustangs Saturday at Bright House Networks Stadium.

Embarrassing, the loss was unforgivable and humiliating. It shows how O’Liar is taking UCF and Hitt for a retirement ride. Millions that could go towards education are wasted on this liar

Its been time for a new coach. GOL got us great facilities, facilities that Kruz could only dream of, but thats all he's gotten us.

People will say he brought us a CUSA championship, but guess what, CUSA is not even the best midmajor conference out there. No one outside of the conference cares about the teams in CUSA. Now look what hes done. He has us ranked lower than FAU. We have over 30 years of football and we are ranked below FAU.

In the next BCS conference shake up what keeps FAU from being selected and us being left behind. We need a coach that proves we belong.

Don't tell me about money because guess what, we are losing season ticket holders because younger families can't afford to pay the donation levels for the ability to buy tickets. For some reason administration thinks we are USF and winning games people care about. Yes money is important, you don't want people to think that you wont contribute but no one wants another Temple type team, which we would be in the BCS right now.

Bottom line, we need GOL to retire, because we cant pay his buyout thanks to Orsini, and then we need to get a coach with some emotion. We need someone who will get the kids ready for a game. We need someone that will recruit kids out of the Belle Glade area which produces some great players that need schollys (they might need some academic help but Daunte got it done).

We have a great foundation which was laid by GOL, but he hasnt recruited a quality receiver or QB in the time hes been here. Thank you for everything you've done george but be a man and let someone else bring this team to the next level

That I will disagree with. GOL is not paid with anything from the school. Donors pay his salary, they specifically give it to the Athletic Association which is a separate entity from the school.

Im not a fan of GOL but dont use the old line that the money could go to education. People are donating their money specifically for athletics.

1) Loans have been made from UCF in the millions to the athetic association with no oversight or repayment plan. So yes, tuition $'s are paying for O'Leary.

2) SMU is the 109th ranked team (out of 120 teams) in the country with three players suspended this weekend. Sounds like a big comeback for UCF!

How pathetic!

Happy 33rd, yes 33rd year of Football!

By By GOL. By the way. He did not get us facilities or a stadium. This was all started by Steve Orsini. Where is Tribble in all of this? Get rid of him as well.

You're definitely letting your math abilities show here. UCF didn't start playing football until 1979. Therefore we have only been playing football for 29 years, not 33. A little math lesson for you: 2008-1979=29. Unless somehow it's 2012 and I missed out on the past few years...

Orsini had donors that wanted a big name coach. They got one and so the donors lined up to give money. The facilities would not be here if Kruz were still here.

As I said I am not a fan of GOL but he got us some nice stuff but its time for a new coach that preaches winning above all else.

As far as loans, they are for the facilities. No state or UCF tuition goes to pay any of our coaches. Thanks for playing.

Steve O was also the man that set him up for a 10 year extension with no easy buy out

Currently, this is the 30th year of UCF football.
2012 will be 34... try counting with your fingers and toes, Einsteinette.(Here's a head start...'79 counts as ONE.)

She's a lot closer saying 29 than 33! One year off is not nearly as bad as 3 years off...it appears someone counted one year as 3 then. And to be completely honest that girl isn't the first I've heard say UCF has been playing football for 33 years, sounds like quite a few people need math lessons.

20, 23, 28, 29, 30 or 33 does not matter, ucf is a inept program that has not progressed. cusa is a joke and everyone knows it. FAU will most likely get into a BCS conference before the knight-wits do. And to make things worst you are stuck with that loser and a liar of a coach until he retires. He cannot recruit, he cannot keep up with today's offensive and defensive schemes, he is a complete joke. But hey happy 20, 23, 28, 29, 30 or 33 year of football, LOL!

Why do you guys come on UCF's site and give them a hard time?
It was ok when they were attacking us over the so called rivarly.
It's time to put that behind us and add constructive and supportive comments.
Good luck with SMU UCF.

Yes, FAU looks very attractive to a BCS conference, especially after that great loss to MTSU last night. I can hear those BCS Conferences just shouting the praises of the OWLS, "Hey, they loss to MTSU, let's invite them into the SEC.

About a week ago I would have said UCF would blow out SMU, now I have to say am I am hoping they blow them out, but have no confidence. Let's hope they finally have their leadership in order as far as players are concerned. How does USF stack up against PITT. Pitt seems to be much improved this year. Which USF team will show up, the team that beat blew away last weeks opponent, or the team that barely beat UCF and Kansas.

Frank:

School funds are not being used to pay GOL. The funds are allocated as part of UCFAA budget and via the UCF Foundation thru donations.

The money loans pertained to other university departments loaning funds for interior build-out such as the new arena and funds given to furnish offices, weight rooms etc. The asset that these funds go to are owned by the university and not UCFAA.

FYI, GOL doesn't make $1 million a year. When all said and done it comes to $1.5 million.

Non-Recruitng Coach?, Doesn't visit local HS? GOL in my opinion has done a pretty good job in recruiting, remember, this is truly the first year that we are seeing all of GOL's recruits on the field. Essentially he has a bunch of Freshman out there who are starting and competing for positions. He has brought about a far reaching arm as far as recruiting is concerned, something this program has never seen before. We are firmly entrenched in the hotbeds of recruiting, Alabama, Lousiana, Georgia, the Carolinas, NY and Penn and Florida. This all due to the fact that over the past 2-3 years our recruiting budget has trippled. As far as visitng local HS's, you do realize that the NCAA only allows a small window of time for Head Coach's to make on-campus visits to High Schools. I have a few friends who coach High School ball throughout Florida, all say that O'Leary makes it to their school when possible. O'Leary is very much welcomed to visit at anytime he wants, where as our former coach (Kruczek) was basically unwelcomed to many schools around Florida, and pretty much considered as a buffoon. O'Leary has set this program up nicely for the future. He has always stated that this is his last stop, and when his contract is up in 3-4 years he will be done coaching. Now, with all that said, his record leaves little to be desired, but as a fan, a season ticket holder, a booster, and an Alumn, I am happy with what he has done for our program (stadium, facilities, budget, scheduling, etc). Everything is in place for UCF to hire another high profile coach, who can and will take this program to new heights. This may or may not take place before his 10 years are over.
