While the Siena College athletics Web site continues to celebrate the school's big upset over Vanderbilt nearly two weeks after the opening-round game in the NCAA men's basketball tournament, the Saints' Kenny Hasbrouck (Cardinal Gibbons) has been honored for his outstanding play this season, which included a dominating performance against the Commodores.
The 6-foot-3 junior guard, who scored 30 points against the fourth-seeded Southeastern Conference school, has been named to CollegeInsider.com's 21-member Mid-Major All-America team. Hasbrouck scored 17 in the second round of the NCAA tournament against Villanova, but it wasn't enough as the 13th-seeded Saints lost, 84-72. Read more

Tampa Notes: Villanova Goes From Bubble To Favorite
“We just happened to have a bad year my freshman year”
- UConn coach Jim Calhoun was asked upon arrival in Tampa what it felt like to be the glamour team set to play at the St. Pete Times Forum. With UConn having lost to San Diego in the first round, Villanova coach Jay Wright was fielding similar questions Saturday.
'You know, the way our team has been all year, to hear us called the marquee team right now is funny,' said Wright, whose Wildcats, as a No.12, are the lowest seed of eight Big East teams that made the tournament.
Villanova had a five-game losing streak this season, finished the regular season 19-11, won one game in the Big East tournament and defeated fifth-seeded Clemson Friday night, 75-69. Read more
