This guy is the main source of ethics for NCAA football, and has been so for many years. Without him, there is no Prop 48. People forget how some of his players had trouble getting to stay in hotels because they were black way back. He did the right thing in college football regardless of the outcome, and many hate him because he still had a great program. Joe has had a little trouble coming to grips with the new behaviour of young adults (who hasn't?), but is catching on in his old age. When people call for him to step down at Penn State, I always ask who they have in mind to replace him that can do a better job. I have yet to get an answer. And, the guy can still run!
There is nobody who deserves to be in a Hall of Fame more than Joe, player or coach. Nobody has done more for college football.

John, this is a great post. Joe Pa is already a legend. And he's still living. He is a great man.

This man deserves all the plaudits we can give him. Those that want him gone don't even have a decent coach to replace him. His players(for the most part) respect and obey him. That is enough for me. Records without ethics don't mean anything.

hope he stands there, and rants and rave like the angry old man he is, when getting his award.
the only reason he still coahces is boby bowden, that he can't stand having fewer victories than him. so the whole program suffers all these past decade.

My two daughters went to Penn State (and one of them was in the Blue Band for 4 years) and all I have to say to those who downtrod on JoePa is that you may not really know the guy. Yes, he likes to be competative, but not at the expense of ethics, fair play, and education. He lives this on and off the field and demands this of his team and school. Congratulations, Joe.

Without him there is no prop 48? That's a LONG reach. He's probably second to Bear Bryant as the greatest college coach ever, but with each passing year he's looking more and more lost on the sidelines. I would love to see him go out gracefully soon before the legacy takes a shot.
