Notre Dame coach expecting 9-12 wins this season
Blue and Gold Illustrated reports that Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis, coming off a 3-9 season, is 'privately projecting anywhere from nine to 12 victories this year.' A portion of the article: "From what I'm ...

Charlie, you just don't get it do you? At ND, players talk by playing, coaches talk by winning, and talkers play by talking. Stop talking. Get your players playing by coaching them, and let your winning force people to reckon with you and the program. Enough talking trash about other schools (I am not a Michigan fan, but no need to talk trash about one of the better programs in the country) and promising wins, even if in private. You don't coach at Miami or USC or LSU or Belicheck U, you coach at ND, start acting like it.

as a NOTRE DAME fan for over 40 years, i do believe that they will probably go 6 wins & 6 losses this year. they will be competitive. i really do feel that next year will be a lot of improvement & they will go to a very good bowl game. either way, the fighting irish will ALWAYS be in my heart. charlie weis has not done a bad job. things WILL get better. i will never abandon them. GOD BLESS!!!!

I think we will win 7-8 games this year and seriously contend for the 2010 National Championship. The talent is coming and Help is on the way! Go Irish!!

A good year for Notre Dame this season will be
6-6. Especially with Notre Dame's total lack of player development since Jabba the Weis has taken over. It's laughable....I have never seen or heard of a coach that make's excuses or blame shifts~! USC is going to win their 7th in a row vs. the Irish~! Go USC TROJANS Fight On~! |

Broadway Joe,
I always like when you post, not because of what you say--that part isn't worth the time it takes to read it--but I love that picture of the SC cheerleaders. ND alum and proud of it |

You have a storied tradition and you should be proud of it. Come on, I have doubled ND's win total from last season and they can at least get to a lower tiered bowl game. Six wins will be a good year for them where they were before. Believe me I want ND to get better it helps USC strength of schedule. I ask you are you really sold on Charlie? If you didn't know already ND lost two more players a reserve reciever & starting Cornerback both are transferring. How many players are going to keep leaving the program? Since CW has gotten there they have lost an alarming amount IMO. Take Care, Joe |

BW Joe,
In the imortal words of Hervé Villechaize, the picture, the picture... If you are referring to Hord and Walls, Hord is transferring, but Walls is not. Was there another CB that previously transferred? There is much more movement by players among all the colleges than when I went to school. Not sure that isn't cultural and a sign of the times, kids believing they need to transfer to have their shot because their skills don't match the philosophy of the coach. Will be an interesting year for both programs. See you in LA for post-Turkey Day game. |

joe let me correct you here. D.J. Hord was never going to play so he transferred. Darrin Walls has academic issues and might be back in the spring, he hasnt transferred, YET. There is a good possibility he will be back. usc has transfers all the time. why? not because of pete its because they are loaded and some of the top prospects that realize they wont see significant playing time go elsewhere. High School kids these days dont want to work for PT, they would rather just transfer to another school and play. |

you probably havan't heard a coach mention shifts....you have an idiot walking your sidelines, great recruiter and good at hiring people around him that know football, Pete surely doesn't. How many arrested this week at California State Prison, I mean USC? Don't drop the soap in that locker room, wait, it's legal there. |

Enough with the transfers Joe. Much better players than those that have left ND have left usc over the past few years. It happens at every program when the talent gets too good. Hord was coming off a horrible injury in 2006 and ND had probably the best WR haul in recruiting last year. Hord was about to be left behind, or used solely as a special teams player with spot duty at receiver. As for the "cornerback" that you have mentioned before, he was buried even deeper than Hord was. In fact, and Munir Prince is his name, that cornerback was recruited as a RB. But ND has recruited pretty well at RB, and again Munir was left out. I think he was Charlie's first commit to his first class, so coach wanted to do whatever he could to get him on the field. That's why they made him a corner. Unfortunately, ND has done really well at recruiting corners too. This is the only reason that he left, and it was, in his words, the hardest decision he ever made. And BTW, usc has had more players leave than ND in the same amount of time. |

Huh? Was Joe talking about Walls? He's gonna be back in the spring, I hope. Word over at DomerDomain is it had something to do with cheating. |

Why do you guys deflect and make excuses all the time? When a good player for ND transfers out,all you guys do is trash them or put them down? And make excuses??? Just admit that not every CFB player fits and clicks with every coach and program,it's OK. All I am saying is ND is bringing in a lot of talented players, but they are losing MORE players than the NCAA Average. It's just an observation.=) |

Joe there was little for Charlie to lose. There was one good class there, that is it. Last year sucked and it was a perfect storm, if it could go wrong it did. 6 wins wouldn't be a good season to me, it is what we should have 6-7 wins is what we should have, 9 if the youngsters are as good as we hope, anything more is gravy. Our schedule was tough last year, our O-Line was young and a true freshman QB. I think Charlie has done a very good job. He certainly has done nothing to make me want to get rid of him. Anything less than 6 wins will make me wonder. I see us ruining what will be a great season for USC. Hate to say it Joe but the writing os on the wall, USC has been on a steady decline. Not a fast one but one none the less. |

trash who? Hord? he is the only one transferring. He wants to play and he knows that he is way down on the depth chart. Who is trashing him. He is going to a Div II school. It sucks that walls can't play, but if it was cheating, he shouldn't be. We aren't USC where you can rape a girl and still suit up or take money from boosters, get free houses, get free apartments, free dope etc. |
