Couple of thoughts about the game.

1. Their defense is light years ahead of what we saw last year. They still have weaknesses, but they are competitive, tackle well and play good team defense. Way to go Roof!

2. We all had better hope and pray that Sherels injury is not severe enough to keep him out of next weeks game. Collado is absolutely clueless when it comes to pass coverage. His idea of playing cornerback is to drop 12 yards off in coverage and then run up and tackle the guy after he's caught a 10 or 15 yard pass. Makes his tackling stats look decent, but I don't think he's ever broken up a pass. If Sherels can't go, they need to consider starting Stoudemire at that corner. At least he appears to be trying to stay with his man.

3. If this was an example of how the starting offensive line is going to block, they need to put in the backups immediately. Play the freshman, the upper classmen who played yesterday don't seem to be able to either run or pass block. Weber was running for his life the entire game.

Even with the above criticisms, its obvious the Gophers are on the upswing the Brewster is doing a great job recruiting and utilizing the JC transfers. Another year of two of progress and they could be competing for that Rose Bowl birth we all laughed at him about.

Go Gophers!!!!

I would guess the guys that are starting have achieved that status by being the best we have. The O-line of Ball State had no trouble with the IU defense all night.

We did not recruit O linemen last year. Remember, "speed, speed and more speed"?

Let the Rose Bowl take care of itself after the team has gotten to any bowl game. Big talk is always phony.
